Nice car... but damn, the engine sounds like a sewing machine.

How's the exhaust note?

Honestly.. I don't think there is an exhaust note. I can barely hear the engine when I revv it. Supposedly.. the engine sounds like that due to the direct port injection(??).. chattering noise. It's a totally different car.. don't think it's very much performance oriented.

Seriously nice car, but... try having fun someday and drift it sideways or spin a little 180 in a parking lot or toss it around an autocross course. The IS is a sweet ride, but just doesn't let you have control when YOU want it.

But congrats, it looks nice and I'd seriously consider one if they put an off switch on the nannies. (there is a process, a very long process, that allows you to turn it off)

I have an agreement with my cousin.. he'll trade cars with me for the weekends when I want to. I do kinda miss the tighter steering and quicker acceleration of the G35 coupe.. but I'm not saying the IS350 is slow either.. just didn't floor it yet due to break-in period. Feels good to be one of the few in LA to have an IS350 Sport Package.. :O

thx007: Also about the "no way to turn off VDIM/TRAC" thing.. there is already a secret code type method to actually turn it off.. you have to do a series of things to turn it off so it doesn't reactivate. Already did some doughnuts in the school parking lot.. :] There is also a secret code type thing for the navigation as well so you can input stuff while driving.. you have to touch random areas of the screen in a specific order and it overrides.

I knew about the long series of steps to turn it off (I even posted them once in the General forum), but I didn't know there was a navigation screen option for doing it. That sounds a lot easier perhaps. I didn't like the idea of the long process of brake taps, key turns and such everytime I drove. But a nav system workaround would be cool!

You could have done like my neighbor across the street... he has a '05 G35 coupe and now he ALSO has an IS350! I haven't talked to him yet about impressions and comparisons.

OoOoOo...I like the interior of the IS. Geez, I'm really not liking our cheap ass interior. Anyways, I like the older gauges of the IS, it was so unique and different. These gauges are nice too but I like the older ones better. Nice car. Wait until the 07 G comes out you'll be wanting to come back. I'll put $100 on it.

ironrice: yeah, i'm really liking the 07 facelift concept pictures for the coupe.. not sure if i'll be in the market for a new car anytime soon though. i'd like to have both cars though.. so i can have the best of both worlds..

msb: already enjoying it :] i never realized how convenient it is to have a touch screen nav.. and the bluetooth is so useful. the mark levinson surround system is excellent as well. hopefully it wont need to get its driver side window motor replaced and rattle issue fixed like my coupe did.

here are some pics of the coupe when i just got it..

first thing i missed when i got the lexus was the sexy exhaust note when startin up the coupe..
