Seriously though, I think this is a good sign. We've gotten his attention with some strategic kills lately. The fact that he'd even offer a truce (legit or not) signals a concern perhaps on his part that he's losing too many of his internal minions.
I've read the news and Bin fucko wanted a truce in Iraq and Afganistan. If a truce like that will save our soilders and civilian lives then I'd be for it. Of course anywhere else it's fair game. Well who knows, probably some BS anyways.

Personally, I am not convinced it's actually from UBL... we haven't heard a thing from him since 12/04 and this was only an audio track, not a live appearance with proof of date. I think we may have done sufficient damage to his infrastructure that about the only thing Al Quaida can do is spew terror threats and hope some deranged US citizen does something spectacular.

If it involved his conditional surrender then maybe I'd consider a deal. I doubt that it would alleviate any stress in Iraq though. There are more forces at work there than Al Qaeda.

I don't know I'm just saying that's a possibility. All I'm saying is anything to lessen the dangers for our soilders is worth a try. How would you know if you don't try, even if it saves one life it's worth it to try IMO. Do you actually think it won't do anything? Let me ask you something, do you have any family over there? Is there a chance that you might go to fight for our country? I guess since I do have friends and family there trying anything to help their safety is worth a try. However, I don't think Bin fucko is a honest fucker and needs to be taken out and negotiating with the enemy is very dangerous and it might send the wrong message.

Agreed, however I think the probabilities of increased safety for boots on the ground would be waaaay better with some new body armor.

Like pissin' in the wind... not only will it not work, you'll end up worse that before you tried. There are just too many radical interests involved to expect a successfu lasting truce IMO.

Yes... not any more... in not too many years my kids may become involved. In fact, I fully expect they will become involved as I just don't see this threat totally eliminated anytime soon.

Of course, but I think any efforts need to be carefully calculated. If recent history is any indication, there is a high likelyhood agreeing to such a truce might be a very dangerous road to follow. Just remember, Al Quaida made a similar truce offer to European countries, but still blew up their people and assets on home their soil.
