Some guy in my town has one of these... they are utterly amazing for a car of that genre. Weighed under 3000 pounds, looked amazing, sounded awesome and had between 400 and 450 HP and a top speed of around 180 MPH. Those things were a sheer jaw-dropper for the early 70's, no doubt.

Damn, I didn't know there were any of those still around, they were sold by the Mercury dealer here back then, and oh...........

96 Viper GTS blue with white stripes is the best muscle car.
My best friends uncle had one of these. Supposedly it was a Shelby Viper?
It had sidepipes and was blue with a white stripe. The thing had amazing pull when he got on it.
I just don't like the way the Vipers sound though compared to other cars of similar power. They have those small, high-reving pistons and produce a rather whiney sound.

I love the purr of a viper. Oh and yeah they are all shellby he designed them.

I prefer either the deafening roar of a Monster-Truck and a Supermodified Sled-Pull tractor or the high RPM turbo-fueled buzz of F1 GP.

Pantera.........not a muscle car.
Firebird..........not a muscle car.
Viper........definitely a muscle car.
Oh? The original Trans AM, circa 1970 or so, sure was a muscle car, for it's time. The Pantera I guess was more of an "exotic" than a muscle car though.

The muscle cars were killed off due to the gas crunch of the 70's.
In my mind the Trans Am isn't really a muscle car........I wouldn't classify the Vette, Camaro, Trans Am, and Mustangs as muscle cars either. While the performance of the vehicles was pretty decent/good for the times, they just fit different molds. By the time Smokey & the Bandit came out the Trans Am had it's rocks cut off, my Prelude would smoke that car.
From the 70's to the 90's the only car I felt that truly met the requirements of a muscle car was the Viper.

I don't necessarily think that's a good thing ggirl. Huge blocks with massive torque/power thrown into a large and overweight car. Shitty gas mileage and no driver aids. Get a young driver in one of those and it's asking for big trouble.
