I disagree. He had to go for it because he knew that the D was having a hard time stopping Vince. If he gets the first down, the game is pretty much over. It was a gutsy call.

Texas scores and leaves 19 seconds on the clock. Do you think Texas would have moved the ball essentially half the field in 19 seconds? That's exactly what they would've had to do if USC just punted the fricken ball. Pete spotted Texas way too much yardage by going for it. It was just plain dumb.

Even if PC did kick, it left almost 2 minutes on the clock and they had 3 time outs. That is more than enough time. He had to take the chance.
