SA 8300HD 160GB DVR and cable box
Panasonic SVHS recorder
Infinity Reference Series front towers
Infinity Studio Monitor center channel (voice coil match with towers)

I'm having my friend's work AV junkies design a system for me. I'm just giving them a budget to go with and they're going to come up with something. Right now what they are waiting for are the specs and reviews on this year's equipment.

Will need to report back in a couple of months.

WOW! Nice setup. I have an older Sony & w/ the DRC curcuit it does pretty good w/ hi-def type input. I'd love 2 see that SXRD picture w/ HDTV input. Enjoy, or is that kinda redundent!
PS. I like my Def Tech spkrs. w/ my Sony 1000ES amp. but I bet yours sounds awesome to!

My gear is getting a bit dated, looking at picking up a pre/pro and amp set up and an upconverting DVD player this spring. This is what I have now though:

Vizio 42" HD Plasma
Outlaw Audio 1050 6.1 channel A/V Receiver
NHT Superone's front and rear
NHT SuperCenter
JBL 10" sub
Pioneer DV 434 DVD Player

I'm a big fan of the Outlaw products and they just released a new pre/pro 7 channel amp combo with HDMI/DVI switching for less than $1,300 (I think). Not yet sold on the upconverting DVD players but the player have now is starting to show its age (4 years old) so I'll likely have to upgrade that as well.

I'm waiting in fear for the THX equipment list... I showed my wife all the remotes, now she's happy with the 6-7 I leave on the table.

So, these are some nice setups you guys have going here. I can highly recommend the upconverting players. Especially on some of the TV series and other "lower quality" DVDs. However, I can see a real improvement in newer movies too.

THX, nice to see the Velo recognized. They build a great product and you can use it for a kitchen island in a pinch. Hehe...

Lrpba... you should check on the SXRD for sure. It's a beautiful set and I'm even happy with quality of standard definition broadcasts, something I haven't been able to say about most HDTVs.

G35_83, we have the same DVR/Cable box... quit changing my channels!!

:P

Ohhh guys ... don't let the remotes scare ya! Okay, I cheated. They don't all belong in the home theater area. :P I took that pic a while back, thinking it might be hiliarous to gather all the remotes from the entire house.

I've had my setup for a while now, so they are definitely not the latest models. They still perform admerably and will knock just about anyone's socks off. So far, I feel no urge to upgrade anytime soon ... other than the display unit, which is showing a bit of age.

Toshiba 65HDX82 65" 1080i HDTV (painstakingly ISF'd)
Denon AVR-3803 Amp/Reciever (7.1-ch configuration)
PSB Image Series 6T Front tower speakers (x2)
PSB Image Series 9C Center speaker
PSB Image Series 2B Side surround speakers (x2)
PSB Image Series 2B Rear surround speakers (x2)
SVS PB12-Plus/2 (Twin 12", 900W BASH Amp)
Behringer DSP1124P (parametric EQ for sub)
Monster Reference Power HTS-3500

forgive me for leaving out the specific model# for these here ...
Sony Progressive DVD player
old ass Pioneer LD player
old ass Sony dual tape deck
RCA UltimateTV (x2)
XBox
200+ DVDs
... I stop buying these for a while, since I got on the Block Buster on-line rental thingie.

That's all folks

Kloh's list is the one you should all fear!

Haha... Kloh just busted a nut.

And so did the rest of the A/V dept.

That's the coolest remote control I've ever seen.

downstairs:

Hitachi 51SWX20B (one of the good old ones, HD)
H/K AVR8000
H/K DVD50
H/K CDR30
Infinity 2.6 (fronts) intermezzo series
Infinity 3.5 center intermezzo series
Infinity IL10's for rears. interlude series
Infinity 1.2s (sub) intermezzo series
Monster 3500 powercenter
Monster Z3 cables in front; Z sub interconnect
various other Monster cables that i spent way too much on.

bedroom:

Toshiba 34" direct view CRT (HDTV)
H/K AVR520
H/K DVD25
Infinity Interlude series... (maple finish)
IL30's in front
IL25 center
OWS in rear
IL120s sub
basic Monster powercenter

between both systems... thousands of dollars of Monster wire and interconnects.
i love it. i used to have a horrible habit of always upgrading, but i've lost that habit (thank god)

i'd put the avr8000 up against any all in one receiver. it also is the only non-Lexicon peice to make full use of Logic 7, allowing you to overlay Logic 7 on top of DD and DTS

But right now, I gotta gotta head off to work. So I'll pull a clint and post it up later.
