But I wrote that halfway through the first link and then I saw the interview afterward. I just have one question: do you think he smokes weed? I mean you grow up in the eastside listen to Reggae your whole life and then you adopt a faith and still listen and be apart of this reggae movement. You know that dude is at least getting a contact high.
I clicked on the 2nd song and I have heard it before. Thanks Dizz.

Gamma, you and I both know any can happen behind closed doors.
A true testament to his faith would be if he performs on a Fri.
If he plays on Shabbas, then I'm pretty sure he still lightin' up the trees.
Speaking of Shabbas, I loved John Goodman's character in, "The Big Lebowski".

That was random, but yeah, I loved his character too. That whole movie was great. I see John every once in a while at this dive bar I go to in Marina del Rey. Seriously, he's one of the better actors of our time. Did you ever see him in O Brother Where aret thou? Another good movie.

Walter Sobchak: I told those fucks down at the league office a thousand times that I don't roll on Shabbas!
Donny: What's Shabbas?
Walter Sobchak: Saturday, Donny, is Shabbas, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don't work, I don't get in a car, I don't ride in a car, I don't pick up the phone, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as shit don't fucking roll!

A couple of days ago I had some time to kill, so I walked into Tower Records and bought:
1. Who is Jill Scott? Jill Scott's first album. This is the 2nd time I've bought this. You Philly fans should know who she is. She's awesome and one of my favorites. Great ryhmes, very deep, good lyrics, nice beats.
2. Cream: Gold. It's essentially the best of Cream. It's a 2 CD set and the 2nd one includes 8 live performances. The drum solo on Toad on the 2nd cd is awesome. Chipp Webb, Max Roach and Alex Van Halen would be oh so impressed. You should buy this just to hear Sunshine of your Love and Crossroads live.
3. The best of Aretha Franklin. I bought this for 3 reasons. 1. I had Chain of Fools stuck in my mind for some random reason. 2. When I buy a few CD's I like to buy for others too, this one goes to the wifey. 3. I secretly wanted it. Aretha is the godmother of soul and necessary to any music lover's collection. When it comes to vocals, only Sarah Vaughn, Patti Labelle, Billy Holliday (not a vocalist in her mind, but a musician), and Etta James are the only other ladies that can hit those notes to connect with your soul.
I had a cd case of 120 cd's stolen out of my old car so I'm still trying to replace some lost albums. So I also had in my hand:
Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 (both $9.99) and Miles Davis Birth of the Cool.
Haha this is an old thread. I've been a Jill Scott fan ever since she collaberated with the Roots. Never had a chance to listen to one of her albums straight through though.
I bought Matisyahus CD Live at Stubbs and dig it quite a bit. Sounds great for a live album. I also read somewhere that he doesn't perform on Fridays and Saturdays which was a question earlier in this thread.
Talib Kwelis newest one is pretty good as well. His beats and lyrics are different from what you always hear on the radio. More of a soulful sound. I'll dig up the album title

Yeah, I have that single too. It's partially on the same album. Check it out.
Ever since I heard about Matisyahus here on this thread, they've received a lot more press. They had a piece on them in the L.A. Times just a few days ago since they were performing in Long Beach at the Reggae festival. I may have to get that too.
Jill Scott is one of my all time favorites also. That first album is sooo good
kloh got me listening to James Blunt lately. I guess the album's been out for a while but it seems like he is just starting to get noticed in the US.
I've had that James Blunt CD in the changer for a while now. I haven't gotten tired of it yet.
John Prine - Fair and Square is a really good CD. Another that's been in my CD changer for a while.

I saw the same article, Gamma...sounds like he was the star of the show....I guess he has a new studio album coming out in two weeks as well (the one I'd originally referred to is a live recording).
Okay, I have no idea who this James Blunt character is. Looks like I gotta check 'em out on Yahoo music.
He did that song "You're Beautiful" didn't he? Was that song shown at the end of the credits from Crash??? I saw something recently on DVD where that song/video was played at the end of the movie, and this is the only one I could think that it might have been.
