Default The border wall

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051221/...co_border_wall
Alright, I'm all for immigration and bringing people from different countries make the US their new home but only LEAGALLY! So if they did build a wall to keep out illegal immigrants and terrorists coming in from Mexico I have no problem with it. However, the Mexican government is angry over the proposal to raise a wall. I mean does the Mexican government really have a right to get mad?

Here's why they are against it:

Yea but what what I mean is it's our border to fence up if we want and the Mexican government crying about it shouldn't affect any decision IMO.

I see your point Iron, but money talks. You can't expect them to let it happen without a fight when talking about 16 Billion dollars.

Wow, such a hot topic that is once again so historically and culturally based, it's hard to make sense of who's right and which way to proceed.

A fence, hmmm. I suppose. It would be a band aid on a very huge immigration problem. People are going through Texas and Arizona walking hundreds of miles through a desert and you think a fence is going to stop them?

Kids, and I mean kids 10 through 13 & younger, risk life and limb to rejoin their mothers who left their countries in Central America for work in the U.S. The kids leave with nothing in their pockets travel through Mexico from the Southern tip and northward where Mexicans don't like them either, and the kids hitch a ride on top of trains where electric cables run freely and bandits or cops will rob them or enslave them with the sole purpose of reaching the California/Mexico Border only to find out that their mother is working in North Carolina. Yet, still they go.

No matter how high, do you really think a fence will stop them?

Mexico has beef with it because it's insulting. US manufacturers setup shop right across the border in Tijuana, Tecate, El Paso and everywhere else where there is a thriving border city. Mexicans come across the border daily to shop at Walmart in the US, or take their kids to school and go back. Our borders are shared, they've always been shared and migration across the border existed before a border was even established in 1848.

The US economy depends on the foreign labor (e.g. Walmart). US produce is cheaper because of brazeros coming across the border, working for minimal wages, and then going back. During the great wars, our borders were wide open and the US encouraged Mexicans and other Latinos to come across.

Now, all of a sudden, the US thinks it can put a high fence between him and his neighbor because of some yuckmuck minutemen and others crying foul?

However, don't think that these yuckmucks have a point. I hate to think of the over-crowding that occurs on our freeways, in our schools, in our hospitals. I hate to think of the excess pollution and waste becuase of the influx of people.

Somehow, someway, amnesty should be issued to some, if not all, and a regimented program must be enforced so that both sides can be satisfied. I wish it could be this simple.

It seems that both the US and Mexico have very real problems with this issue. I too wish it could be simple but alas this is the real world
