I've seen deer exploded all over the highway near my job before after getting decimated by an 18 wheeler. All there was leftover was some chunks of meat and a huge(like 20 foot long painted section of the highway) covered in smeared deer guts and blood. When I saw it, I was like "WTF??? It looks like someone spilled pinkish paint on the highway over here".

It had to have been a mixture of deer blood and deer guts, because anyone who's ever seen blood on pavement knows that blood alone does not really stand out too much, and is darker in color than the pink color I'm describing.

One of my favorite running routes takes me under a highway over pass, and I often find dead deer bodies thrown over the guardrail and into the middle of the 2 highway lanes.... so that I can see it when running on my trail under the highway, but so that it's not visible to the people on the highway. I guess maybe a State Trooper or something who works the area is too lazy to call in the dead deer, so he just calls a backup unit to help him toss the carcas into the brush between the highway. I tell ya.. I see a lot of weird shit when I go running. I'll tell you some when I get some more free time.

I've also personally seen firsthand a dog jump out of the back of a pickup truck on the highway and get run over by an 18 wheeler(Let me tell ya.... that was quite a thing to behold in 7th grade bus while going on a field trip). It was barking at a dog in another car next to it and it jumped out of the truck it was riding in and at the side of the other car... then got blasted by the truck that was like 40 feet behind it in the same lane.

Hmmm.. now that I think about it, I've seen a lot of fucked up accidents and death situations on the roadways. I also saw my own dog get hit by a car in front of my house when I was like 8 or 9 years old. I was looking out the window at the stupid thing chasing cars, and it got hit by a greyhound-carrier truck(Irony?).

Wow.. crap, I have a ton more stories popping into my head as I write this, but I'm not going to put these down here, including the aftermath of a suicide where a woman walked down the train tracks in my college-town and into a train, as well as the body of the guy who lived 3 houses down from me being "removed" from his car on my street after he crashed head on into a minivan at 80 MPH while drunk. Then there's that story of New Years eve 3 years ago when some guy was driving the wrong way down the highway right at me, and I swerved... then he hit the car 2 cars behind me, head on.

We should start a new thread about all the messed up shit we've all witnessed in our lives on the roadways.

So, venison for dinner?

Glad your wife was not hurt and the truck doesn't look too bad.

Hopefully wasn't a reindeer....Santa might be pissed.

It was more like the deer failed to yield the right of way.

The car doesn't seem like it has a lot of damage not $2k worth.

You need one of those bumper guards that are made from structural steel tubing man.

Shit adds up quick. It seems any accident costs at least that much.

She said she just turned at an intersection and the deer hit her as she just started going straight. Said she only doing about 15-20 mph! Imagine what a 50-60 mph hit would have looked like!
