I think this whole thread is disturbing. People drink and do drugs cause they want to always did always will legal or not they do them and they will continue to do so.
Why do you think it's disturbing? It was an interesting debate, what disturbed you since you seem to be for the legalization of drugs, or marijuana at the very least?

That's the point though. How are we ever going to be able enforce something that many people equate with drinking alcohol?

when did I say that? I think it's an interesting debate as well, I do not think that Italy should use porn to lower their defecit though, this being the original topic of the thread.

However...Smoke you are completely wrong in so many ways, just because something is legal doesn't mean that it has to be used. But the main point is that 80% of people have tried pot, therefore, 80% of people could have been arrested and charged with possesion, does that seem fair to you?
80%?!??!! that's a very high stat, you got any referrence for this? oh, and not everyone that has smoken a blunt has been charged for marijuana posession.
I personally have seen the effects of drugs first hand and can tell you what each drug does to your brain and body. I have and still use certain drugs on special occasions. But yet I don't spend money on them and am purely a recreational user. I will use if I see the need to use, but at the same time have the will power to turn them down.

The people who get addicted to drugs are always lacking self-esteem and feel that this is the only way that they can get by. I was curious when I did drugs and wanted to learn first hand the effects so I could make my own decisions as to what I liked and disliked and for what reasons. Also, I can describe the effects to my children when presented with this situation in the future...But there are people who lack self-control, do you blame that on drugs, NO, you blame that on the person and no one else.
i agree, there are people that lack self-control. BUT, is this lack based on consumption, or just naturally. i've seen both, and they're both equally as frightening.
All I got to say Smoke your arguments have no weight or bearing. Do some research before you get in to this discussion.

ok, im going to compare this weed argument with prostitution. i know i am setting myself up for a hell of a bashing... ah well here it goes
Prostitution is A MAJOR business in the United States. perhaps just as big as the weed-market is, except that the weed-market is controlled by a smaller amount of people in comparison to prostitution.
now my argument is this... SINCE prostitution has been going on for years, just like people smoking weed has... SINCE prostitution will forever be an occurence, like people smoking weed is... SINCE taxing prostitution would result in HUGE numbers for the US, just like taxing weed would be... why dont we go ahead and legalize prostitution as well?? shit, you know the amount of men that will be lined up to bang for money as soon as prostitution would become legal?!?!??! the profit would be GLORRRIOUUSSS. the arguments are EXACTLY the same. prostitution will NEVER end, the profits would be equally as big, and really, the risk of obtaining an STD is about the same as becoming a drug addict.
so what do you guys say now? if we legalize weed, prostitution would have to come attatched as well.
