Honestly, I'm also in the military and I'm pretty liberal. Also, my desire to stay in is diminishing because of this war we're in. I was trained when I 1st started that there is a difference between just war and a just war. This war isn't just and the government is putting lives of soilders in danger because of lies and propaganda our government fed us. And to those who say we weren't lied to then answer me this, where are the WMD? Was Saddam really a thread to the US? When 9/11 happened didn't Washington try to tie Al Qaeda and Iraq but came up empty? Lies. That's all I got to say.

I'm not gonna get into the WMA thing. I don't know exactly where I stand on the war but support our soldiers regardless of the decisions Washington has made.
I do firmly believe that Saddam was a threat to America and more importantly his people. He is accused of committing some atrocious war crimes that I fully believe he is guilty of. For that reason alone I think the world is a better place without him in power.
Now we're slippin' into another topic entirely that could go back and forth forever.
To keep it simple, I'll just say that I agree with Ironrice. But since we are in it knee deep, I guess we have to finish it too. So all you GI guys have my support. Come back safely.

I respect that a lot Iron. I know a lot of military guys down here in San Diego, and most of them seem to be brainwashed.
I understand that you have orders that you have to follow.. That is the oath you took when you joined.. I just think that we will never win a war if the soldiers fighting it do not truly believe in what it is they are risking their lives for. I admire the fact that you raise these questions.
Personally I don't think we should be sacrificing the lives of our soldiers and paying our tax dollars to get rid of a dictator unless he is a clear and immediate threat to us.. That is the job of the UN.

Well even though I have my opinions about the war we are in there so I don't think we should pull out until the job is done. It just sickens me that we can go to war and invade another country to get someone out of power. I was taught that this wasn't our government's policy. It really goes against what I've been told about honor and integrity. I know I can be an asshole sometimes....well most of the time but I still do have morals and values in life and what I've been told as an Air Force officer. It just seems like things that are going on goes against what I've been taught.

Sounds like "Syrianna" is similar to "The Constant Gardener" in terms of story line.
That's on my list of movies to see. Once I see it, I'll let you know. The NY Times gave a favorable review of it, but at the time, no one wanted to see it with me.
