That work itself isn't too hard. Like beanie is saying though the permits and inspection is a pain in the ass, but should be done by the persons erecting the frame work and pouring the slab. You might need to be roughing in for electrical too, if the electrical company runs things underground in your area.

i have a friend who is rebuilding his house. he tore everything down to the foundation and is redoing it. he works for cal trans (california's dept. of transportation) and is a senior engineer there. it's been 4yrs and he's still working on it. be it that he's going beyond what is required and making the house very solid, i think he still has 1yr to go. you should really rethink about building your own unless you got lots of time, patience, and money. oh, and his wife definitely needs to get a great wife award for her patience and putting up with him..hahaha. they were still living on the property when he was tearing it down and they ended up living in a tiny bedroom on the lot...hahaha. wasn't much fun i heard. and he's always getting hurt too.
my advice, JUST BUY MAN! =)
