C'mon, Ironrice, did you expect anything less from Missippi? Just went back there to visit the folks for Thanksgiving...my home town is SO depressing and the economy there has been in a downward spiral for several years. They have only one mall for over 20 years, and it is at approximately half vacancy. The town couldn't even manage to keep a Red Lobster open more than a couple of years there before it closed down.

Yeah, no shit? Where do you see it say Cali is #1 smoke?
if california were a nation... it would be ranked #5 in the world of great economies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but since we're talking about salary means, i dont know if they take into account the amount of mexicans that work for a few bucks a day. so that's something to consider.
Cali might have a high wages but you have to consider all the unemployed, people on welfare, or people making minimum wage...they really bring the average down...
living in the "richest state" also requires that a 1 bedrom studio sized condo cost 400K.
just like anything else, the more money a place has, the higher it costs to live there. at the end of the month everyone has the same amount of cash left over. it's all relative.

that's why i said i dont know if those people are being taken into account. i thought it was the median of only employed people
