The verbal abuse that my Step-father gave me was FAR MORE abusive than whatever beating my mom could muster. I still don't think I was beaten, I'd say disciplined and there were a few times where my mom went overboard, but I don't think I was beatin' like some kids. I used to have best friends that were beaten. To the point that there own father who did the beating would tell them that you can't got to school that morning, because the bruises would show and the school would call social services on him. That's a beating.

There are a lot of scientific studies on this issue which led to the whole corporal punishment in schools decisions years ago and I would add that my brother was noticibly more aggressive in a hitting culture but as a girl I wasn't as aggressive because of the rest of my socialization. So even science is going to suggest something more than likely skewed as it is typically biased in one way or another as it is a human creation.

Still even with the worst risk of spanking known to me personally... I would have a hard time watching a kid run in front of a car and almost die...I'd expect they wouldn't be sitting down anytime soon even if they were my own child.
