i understand. but at teh end of the day.. he is not paid to be nice and make friends. he is paid to perform and that he did.
What good is it though if an individual performs well, but his presence is detrimental to the overall teams success?
Afterall.. didn't Philly still make it to the superbowl without him? I'm not saying that they are a better team with him not on the field... but a guy who blatantly shows complete lack of respect for his coaching staff and the teams Quarterback is clearly not proliferating an ideal of team unity, and it's a tremendous distraction to the the entire team... pulling their attention from other important issues that they should be focusing on that are more geared towards the team winning games.

I have to disagree. TO is not performing and again he specifically did not perform because he was unhappy with a contract that he willingly signed and which is more money in a couple of months than most people see in a lifetime.
No one should be feeling sorry for TO. He is reaping what he has sown. If he just shut up and played I think this would have worked itself out.

I have to disagree, he is performing.
700+ yards and 6 td's in 6 games. That's Pro Bowl type #'s.
What are people refering to as "performance"? Competing successfully at the NFL level requires more than just physical talent. Most any NFL coach or player will tell you that the game is 90% mental once you hit this level. While TO has the PHYSICAL talent he is almost completely lacking the MENTAL talent to be a teammate able to coexist with the franchise. New Englands super bowl teams are a great example of this

What about his holding out? You cannot measure what he has done to this team by doing the things he has done.
Hey look at Michael Jordan's numbers when he first started with the Bulls. They far exceeded his numbers later in his career. However by sacrificing his numbers for the good of the team he elevated himself to become arguably the best to ever play the game.
TO by shutting up and playing hard on all the downs he is in could have a similar effect on his team. Unfortunately many professional athletes now do not understand this.
Hell look at Kobe jacking up all his shots. Yes his numbers were good, but he destroyed the Lakers.
It isn't all about numbers.

I've heard this 90% expression used for other sports(distance running, for example), but this doesn't hold true for Football. I think that football(possibly more than any other sport) is dominated by physical talent at nearly every position except for Quarterback and coaching(obviously)... which is why the NFL was one of the first professional sports to make steroid use illegal and to actually test for it. The mental aspect does play a big part of the game of football, but physical ability will take most pro athletes much farther than mental ability will in the sport(unless the guy is a complete and total retard).
Terrell Has had a statisticly successful career... there is no denying that. He's averaged 10.5 td's, 74 Receptions and 1086 yards per year for his 9 year career(not including this year, in which he was on a pace to beat out those averages in each and every category). There aren't many other NFL WR's in the league's history who have been able to perform at this level of statistical production soo consistently and for soo long.... so he clearly can Play the game at an NFL level regardless of his mental capacity or inability to coexist with teammates.
The real question is whether or not his statistical offensive production is enough to outweigh his parasitic effects on team morale and chemistry. Terrel is only a WR.... which means that he's not out there on defensive snaps or special teams(except for rare occasions). Whatever goods he might bring to a teams offense better be worth it, because there's potentially 52 other players(32 starting positions between offense, defense and special teams) and an entire coaching staff that he's going to be disrupting team chemistry for and distracting focus away from winning games.
In the end, the games are won by the team.. not by a player.

So the latest here is he's apologizing. I'm all for giving guys second (third, fourth......) chances, however do you think he's learned his lesson? Can a tiger change his stripes to spots?

i hate to say it... but that apology sounded real to me. not saying it should be accepted. but you know what... maybe he didn't apologize to McNabb the first time because he wasn't ready. ever consider that?
whether right or wrong... maybe missing that game and seeing McNabb finally perform, then being told he's done for the season, finally made him see the big picture. i think it did. oo well i guess... i think they should let him play. but i'm with about the 5% that feel that.
do you honestly think he would continue the BS after this??? come on....

The Scorpion needed to cross a river. The river was far too wide for the Scorpion to cross by himself without perishing. He sat and thought about how to cross when he spotted a Turtle sunning himself on the bank. The Scorpion said, "Turtle please carry me across the river to the other side."
The Turtle answered, "No Scorpion, you will sting me and I will die."
The Scorpion replied, "But friend Turtle if I were to sting you, then we would both drown and die. I have no reason to sting you."
The Turtle pondered the response thoughtfully and said, "Scorpion that makes sense. I will carry you on my back to the other side of the river." The Scorpion scurries onto the Turtle's back and they start to cross the river.
Midway through the journey the Scorpion stings the Turtle. "Aieee!!!! Scorpion you have killed us both! Why oh why have you done such a thing as to doom us both?!!"
The Scorpion replied, "It is in my nature and I cannot change that."
Msb, despite all indications as to TO's nature. The Eagles bit and signed him. Now knowing what he is capable of, having demonstrated such consistent behavior during his time in the league, the question remains what will the Eagles do?
For your sake, I hope that the Eagles (maybe) having survived this journey across the river do not choose to carry the scorpion on their backs again.

sure later on things may come back... but the rest of THIS season --- HIGHLY doubtful.
i'm sick of people being so tough on him. it takes more for some to learn their lesson. maybe this is what he needed. by his apology, it sounded that way to me...
it's funny how i am the most stubborn person but also the most forgiving. i don't get it.

TO should've did the press conference without his agent. Damn Drew screwed everything up again. It would've been so much more sincere if TO made his apology, then answered the press's question himself, rather than having Drew "no comment" Rosenhaus do all the talking.
He's obviously going to apologize.... Did anyone really think he wouldn't?
Even if his apology was sincere(I'm not saying it is or isn't), this isn't even close to the first time he's done something stupid and wrong that is detrimental to the team, and then come back days later and apologized.
The reason for his apology is because he knows that what he did is going to have severe repercussions on his own career(in terms of money, stats, and endorsements)... and I highly doubt that he apologized because he's actually sorry for the things that he said about the eagles players and organization.
I'd love to see T.O go to the Falcons next year... not because of any feelings that I'd have for or against the Falcons, but because I think it was be unbelievably exciting to watch that team with him on it.
