movie and music downloads

im not looking for a site, im just curious. ive heard that some people got busted but ive also heard it was when sharing and NOT when you are downloading. i also heard it was when you had tonnage of music you were sharing, not like a few songs. any truth to that?

what site were people using to download who got busted? limewire? morpheus?

People have been busted using limewire, bearshare, kazaa, morpheus, bittorrent and pretty much all the well known avenues to get pirated material.

DC++, newsgroups and irc are among the safest methods to download stuff. I don't download much anymore because the risk/reward just isn't worth it anymore; but I do have several friends who upload stuff to me after they've downloaded it.

As far as music is concerned, there is so much crap out there now, mislabeled, distorted, looped, that it is hardly worth the effort.
I just paid ten dollars for the full 14 song Santana release on Itunes. IMO this is a good deal and I can make as many copies as I want, load it up in the Ipod or play it straight from the hard drive.

For movies there is Netflick.

well as long as you're not sharing...they can't bust you cuz you're not doing anything illegal. Downloading is just downloading ... if they can't prove you share you're okay.

I still dl...I just won't share my files for anyone to download mines.
