Don't they also use the A-6 to train pilots Navy? My dad was on an aircraft carrier and I saw one of these up close.
The A-6 Intruder is actually no longer in service. They went away in the early 90's, shortly after Desert Storm. My aircraft is a 4-seat variant of the A-6, except instead of dropping bombs, we jam radars/communications and shoot anti-radar missiles.
The A-6 was an awesome aircraft. What did your dad do in the Navy?

He was a firefighter. He was on the Nimitz for a while and also a ship called the Merrimack and one other one but I can't remember the name.

I googled EA-6B and found a very comprehensive fact sheet from Northrop Grumman. That's wicked high tech stuff...really cool!
Ok. I wasn't worried about you being a spy or anything. It's just that not many people outside the Prowler community know/care anything about our jet or what we do. That includes the aviators in the other squadrons in our own airwing with whom we spend 6-7 months on a boat.
To answer your question, I am in an ICAP-II squadron. ICAP-III only came into service within the last two months or so and only two squadrons will be getting them. My roommate is in one of those two squadrons. He says the new sytem is amazing.
