Sounds like the LCD or some feeder to it. If you're willing, you can try pulling the laptop apart enough to get to the connections for the feeder cabling and re-seat them - probably on the mainboard side.
For giggles, you could also try getting new video drivers to ensure you don't have a weird problem there. Not much hope of that, but you never know.
I'm guessing damaged connector or cable feeding the LCD. Possibly but unlikely a damaged LCD screen.

Looks like smoke vandalized your car with MS Paint.
I've never heard of that problem on a laptop, but that sort of thing can happen on a regular PC if the video card comes loose and isn't making solid contact at the connectors to the motherboard.
Same as everyone else said, it's probably a loose connection somewhere in the unit where the LCD plugs into the mainboard or possibly the video card is loose inside if it's not an integrated piece(which it probably is).

Thanks guys. I have so little experience with laptops. I've built 3 or 4 desktops and would have a little more confidence in fixing one of those, but I think I may just have to take the laptop in somewhere to be fixed.
Service warranty work in my opinion if it doesn't turn out to be a color adjustment. Laptops are typically going to be too fragile for me to want to open them up whereas I'd open a desktop with hammer if I was of the mood.
And your laptop was pretty frickin' awesome compared to most I have seen...it was dainty and looked like a piece of absolute artwork...not the kind of laptop I would dare to dink around with and I tend to dink with things most of the time. It can't have passed the warranty date, it looked all new and shiny and impressed me. Though I took more time to be impressed by other things in Lex........just remember to erase all those nudies of my body before you send it in for warranty work.

If you want, I'll be a nice guy, Navy.... and store them on my computer for you until you get your machine back from being fixed. Just send em on over... I'll even do it free of charge.
