Now Phelan has a unique perspective on his local media, but saying the father 'used' his kids in an attempt to further his career? I should think a family that size would be mighty hard to keep out of the spotlight during a run for public office. If I had to guess, I bet the media made more of it than the father.
He's not exactly tried to keep them out of the spotlight. They've been in his campaign commercials, on his campaign posters/billboards, etc. Those are thing's he's got control over.

YOUR OPINION is not the law in the US , and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. stop trying to force everyone into thinking just like you. if navy wants to watch gay guys on TV, then let him watch gay guys on TV.
now i agree with you. i wouldnt want my children (when i have them), to watch gay couples in a doublemint commercial. but that's just AN OPINION, you cannot prove it to be RIGHT, OR WRONG. so deal with it.

Yo Smoker, get with the program! wwwsshhh! I wasn't trying to "correct" anybody about their opinion of why 16 kids may or may not be ok in their mind. Just trying to figure out why people responded the way they did about this family. So far, from what I can gather, most criticism revolves around the parental responsibility to provide for their family which, to me, doesn't appear to be a significant issue. Everybody's IS entitled to an opinion but, if you have one, it sure helps if you can at least explain your feelings in a reasonably rational and articulate manner. So, here ya go rocket scientist. rollies right back at'cha!
One thing aside from an obviously incorrect statement about insurance that I did feel a need to correct (about me), I did. I copied and pasted the fall tv listings from www.Gaylife.com as an example of how gay life has become move prevelent on tv, not because I am some born again christian uber-conservative living under a rock threatened by gays. Our family enjoys many of those shows together, however, I do find many of them cross the boundary of either good taste, primetime decency or plain old creativity (nothing new there compared to the average lineup). However, I also feel several are heavy on explicit gay sex and/or attempt to promote gay life as equal to or superior to non-gay life in a family context. And those not consistent with our morals or beliefs, as is our right we choose not to watch.
The ONLY rational fault against these folks I hear is a potential abuse of the children by exploiting them for the furtherance of the father's career as mentioned by Phelan. I don't know what the guy has done in his campaigns, or what constitutes exploitation in that case. I guess it's something like pornagraphy - you know it when you see it. I would assume if he crossed that line, there would be some serious backlash. I do know that ever single candidate in my hometown for local office has flyers that include pics of their families too. It is one hell of a hook, and it certainly got Phelan's attention. Personally, I just make an effort to understand the candidates policies and promises, then tune out all the rest.

once again, YOUR OPINION is niether RIGHT nor WRONG, so stop trying to force everyone to agree with you.
following your idea that your opinion is everything in this world, , if you were racist, then blacks or hispanics shouldnt be allowed to be shown on tv??? JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE IT???
i HATE watching gay couples on television. but it's their RIGHT to be public with their lives. WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.

Well then, it appears I misunderstood you? If my reply made no sense to you, please explain to me exactly what it was you WERE trying to say. And exactly what topic were you trying to present? Please do your best to articulate clearly so there can be no more confusion.
And yes, I have noticed that you tend to insert a when you either disagree or don't understand a reply, and that you use an awful lot of them lately with me. :P

Oh for the love of God, are you simply not reading before responding or is your ability to comprehend impaired?! If you actually read what I've said thoroughly, you would realize I am in no way attempting to say anyone's opinion on having 16 kids, gay life - or anything else for that matter - is right or wrong. Or force MY opinion on YOU. wtf don't you get?! For the 4th time... ALL I asked was an explanation why anyone who might hold the opinion that 16 kids in what seems to be a happy, loving family was sick or irresponsible. But apparently nobody can do it without going off on a tangent. Jeez, it ain't rocket science or a pizzing contest.
It's too bad you don't watch them, I think some of the funniest damn shows include gay life (including couples) sitcoms. Like I said, we watch as a family and thoroughly enjoy several. Once again, I have no problem with anyone's right to be publically gay, so tell me something I don't know. BTW, you are shouting again. Are you getting hysterical?

how difficult is it to comprehend "if navy wants to see gay people, then let him see gay people".
gee, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. but yet you couldnt?

you are correct, i dont read your entire post, because they are the same shit over and over and over again.
even though you might THINK you're not trying to impose your opinion on anyone... YOU ARE!
and yes, you are correct. you were simply asking for pman's point of view... but the moment you told him that he was WRONG, and your point of view is RIGHT, THAT'S when i have a problem. (and no you didnt directly state "you are wrong and i am right", but you do not need to).
YOUR FUCKING OPINION, IS JUST AN OPINION. just like his... so stop acting like your opinion is better... because YOU CANNOT PROVE THAT.(that's my reason for arguing)
you are correct, i dont read your entire post, because they are the same shit over and over and over again.

Well thank you, that explains it all. Again, if you had the common courtesy to read first, you might have saved yourself a little aggravation. Now for the 5th time, just for you, I was simply interested in why folks held the opinions they did and was looking forward to a well thought out response, not forcing my opinion on anyone. It's pretty simple really, either take the time to read people's posts in their entirety before replying, or risk looking like a rocket school graduate.
That is entirely up to you.
and yes, you are correct. you were simply asking for pman's point of view... but the moment you told him that he was WRONG, and your point of view is RIGHT, THAT'S when i have a problem. (and no you didnt directly state "you are wrong and i am right", but you do not need to).
Never happened, read the post before you reply. Pman's comments about the cost, ability to obtain and maintain insurance protection under such circumstances were very, very wrong. That information is simple point of fact, not opinion, and those familiar with such things would recognize the comment needed correcting.
What's your problem with that?
YOUR FUCKING OPINION, IS JUST AN OPINION. just like his... so stop acting like your opinion is better... because YOU CANNOT PROVE THAT.(that's my reason for arguing)
Of course you can't "prove" an opinion. But you certainly can articulate the reasons and rational that leads to your opinions. Maybe even discuss them. My apologies if I set the bar a little too high by asking. Since "proving" my opinion was never an issue, there's nothing to "argue" IMO. Either quote where I am trying to force others to agree with my opinion about this family or kindly refrain from any further such allegations. Shouting and swearing and little temper tantrums don't help make a point, effective words do.
So does simply knowing what it is you're responding to.
how difficult is it to comprehend "if navy wants to see gay people, then let him see gay people".
gee, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. but yet you couldnt?
Silly me. I made the big mistake of assuming you may have actually read my reply to that comment earlier. You really must try to read the posts carefully before responding.
"I really could care less if you go home and hump a donkey tonite, so long as it's in the privacy of your own home and you don't try to force it on me as anything other than your own personal alternative."
Now, what exactly was that you were saying about genius? I missed your point.
