well ... TopGear more specifically ... I realize that during the season that it's on I drive much more aggressively compared to the rest of the year when the show is on hiatus ... just felt I'd share
We drive a G with lots of HP: only traffic, cops on the side of the road, and taking much older relatives with heart conditions make me ease up on the throttle. Not even gas prices have curbed my driving habits.
Yesterday in the changer, I had Metallica's - Battery - blastin' (master of puppets 1986). But Radiohead's - There There and Jimi Hendrix - Fire also work.
gamma- Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are 2 of my all-time favorite albums. There was a time when I could play any of those songs on the drums! Lars Ulrich is the man!
Being in the driver's seat makes me drive fast no matter the car.

Wait a minute!!! You could work a double-bass???? Dude, that's fucking hard. Could you play "hot for teacher" (another great song)?
Back then, they still had Cliff Burton as bass player. That band was really hardcore then. I re-pruchased And Justice For All yesterday because my CD collection got ripped off (120 cd case) several years ago, so I am slowly putting it back together. Master of Puppets was the first one I bought. Ride the Lightning is next.

Believe it or not gamma, I could actually play a double-bass. I actually thought that it was easier than the single bass. Nah, I can't play "Hot for Teacher" though. Alex Van Halen is truly amazing. I've tried to play that and can't even get close. The intro is the hardest part. I miss playing the drums.

He is one of the greatest, so is the dude from Rush. I also like the guy from Tool.
I was listening to the Howard Stern show the other day, and one of the staff members: Richard Christy, who gave up his job as a drummer with some speed metal band to become part of the Howard Stern Show, was jammin' with Fred Norris and they played that song - Hot for Teacher. Richard was awesome. He said it had been awhile, but man he can really play and he did.
Richard Christy is a funny dude. I heard him play Hot For Teacher on the drums and was really impressed! He is 10x better than Scott the engineer, that's for sure!
