Default What do you think of this price for this truck?

I'm checking out a truck tonight that I might buy... it's being sold by a local private owner and I need some external input on it from you guys as a sanity check on the truck and price for what it has.

2001 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab with:

4 Cylinder 2.7 liter engine with 5 speed manual transmission
4WD(Pushbutton, not Manual Hubs)
60K Miles
Black Exterior with Grey Interior
Stepside Bed
Side Rails
Bed Liner and Tonneau Cover
Sliding Rear Window
Tachometer
CD-Player
Air Conditioning
No power windows and No Power Door Locks
New Front Brakes and regularly maintained
No Rust and Body in Mint Condition
Never used for offroading or towing

May need new tires within a year.

$11,500 asking price.

What do you guys think about that truck for that price? What would you pay for it?

Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds fair... No rust is a big thing up there... may try to squeeze it for a bit less, but those Toyota 4 bangers will go forever. I knew a guy who towed his bass boat with one.

Sounds a bit high to me. While the price jives with blue book retail. I think it is on the high side. You should be able to do better methinks. Also, isn't a 4 cyl a bit light on torque for a truck? Guess it depends on what you will use it for.

good luck.

I offered them $11K for it.

I think they'll take it. The truck is in really good condition with pretty low miles. It could probably use some new tires within a year, but from what I've been seeing... it's a pretty cheap price for the year and miles.

They don't have much HP(155 HP), but have decent torque(177 LB's), and the truck weighs under 3300 pounds.... but those engines and tranny's last forever and the whole truck is generally durable from what I read.

My only concern with this truck is that the bed is pretty narrow. If I buy a quad it probably won't fit, so I might need a trailer. But I need a truck soon for the winter, and this one seems like a pretty good deal for the condition of the vehicle... plus I could always resell it in 2 years if I needed to upgrade and probably still get 9 or 10 grand for it.

Good luck. For the price of the other Tacomas you were looking at, this seems to be a rather good deal. I booked it out with NADA and trade in was about 10,500 while retail was 13,000. That did not include the Tonneau Cover which can be anywhere from 150 to 500. Keep us updated.

You're all Car-People.

I would prefer to get opinions from you guys than some random scrub-assed schleb off the street or a clueless idiot who I work with. haha.

I'd like to...

But, truth be told.... I haven't seen a Tacoma within 200 miles of my area with under 80K miles newer than 1998 for anything under $11K, either for sale by a private owner or at a dealership.

Take a look at this link to see what kinds of prices people are looking at in this type of truck in my area:

I bought the truck.

Got it for $11K.

I'll pick it up Monday. I figure a 2001 Tacoma with 60,300 miles should last me forever.
