If this is the case then practically everybody (with a very few exceptions) should be banned from here!

Just for the record, Jaylin is the self proclaimed inventor/originator of the tornado!

Well, as you can see, the written site rules are intentionally vague. That's not unusual, and one of the main reasons I think members are encouraged to help ensure the flavor of a site or forum. Keep the concensus standards, as it were, through their own set of non written rules. So, in the absence of Moderator action, the only thing that works is intervention by the members themselves. Unfortunately, there is usually more apathy on their part than determination. After all, they have no economic incentive and this is only one of about a bazillion sites they could spend their online time at. Most of us enjoy time spent there but have numerous items higher up on the priority list than trying to 'save' this site.

Judged on opinions? I disagree. People here have broadly diverse and varying opinions, and have for years. If they can present and discuss their opinions respectfully, I may not agree with them but they certainly don't offend me. In that regard, I think this is a very tolerant public community. Rather, it's much more common to judge folks in an online community by their actions (or inactions). There have been NUMEROUS hints (some none too subtle either), comments and downright pleas by others about excessive nested and valueless posts for several weeks (months?) now. Either those didn't register or they were deliberately ignored for some reason.

You ask "just because a few people dont like it, it should be prohibited???". No, but if a few people don't like it enough to mention it, is it necessarily a bad thing to voluntarily refrain from that action in the future? Or do you really feel one has no obligation to bother until 51% get frustrated enough to finally say something? I don't get that mentality. When a couple of requests were made to label attachments N.W.S. to appease the few at work, nobody hollered, "only if half the community says so!" Nobody took offense and with a little cooperation the concern passed. Everybody wins.

For the record, IMO, when bandwith is taken by 2-3+ pages of mindless banter between 2 or 3 people time and time again and other members and guests can't log in without getting a busy server error, they DO get offended. When they click on a thread with a subject of interest only to find multiple postings of totally useless, off topic gibberish within, they DO get offended. When someone fails to recognize that other people's time is equally important as their own, they have every right to get offended!

Dholly's +1

I'd just add that we don't need more school yard monitors just because some people think this is their own private sandbox.

Periods like this is one of the reasons I don't frequent as much as I used to.

AMEN....glad to see more and more peoples seeing things.
my vote goes to Dholly.take the job man...or else i will, but i affaid if i do,i will abuse my power because i'm as straight as a stick.my tolorate clearance might be too narrow.i really don't think 1 more Mod will stir things up.it only make this place a little better.i agree,if (i repeat IF) we all self control then this place will need no stinking rules or moderators.but it like saying if we all get along in this world then we will have no war.see what i mean? this is the pulic internet.things has get out of hand before and it will happen again.who will stand up and warranty this place will be all nice n neat forever? and who can tell me the down side of having 1 more moderator who will help to maintain this place a nice place to hang out?

i tend to think we don't really need another mod. simply because it isn't often that we need chaz to come in straighten things out. normally things work out on their own.

Smoke- you know I got love you but the endless quotes upon quotes especially IN the thread asking to tone it down a notch was a little much and has started to wear on a few nerves. Not because it was offensive but because it made it annoying to sift through and to be quite blunt was annoying seeing it in thread after thread. Like I said before, you know I got love for ya and this isn't meant to bust on ya.

As for the rules being posted it wouldn't be a bad idea, but in the past year and a half I've been coming here I can count on one hand how many threads have been locked. Just my .02

yeah i know what you mean. i was just getting upset everyone was bashing on something we thought was pretty creative the volcano and all... therefore i went a lil nuts on that thread

Honestly, this is really being blown way out of proportion. Did we get a little bit rowdy? Yes. Chaz did what he had to do. Fine. Point well taken. To suggest that their needs to someone policing the board is ridiculous. We were just having fun and yes maybe got a little out of hand. I think Chaz handled it just fine. I pm'd him with a couple of questions that he answered very promptly clarifying what he was objecting to and that was that. If Chaz decides that there needs to be another mod because maybe it is too much work, then so be it. But to suggest that we need another mod to babysit is ridiculous. For the most part, we are all adults and should be able to monitor and regulate ourselves. Like I said, I admit that the quoting got out of hand, not intentionally at first. Chaz made his warning and those who chose to ignore it will be dealt with. Why does it have to go beyond that? Let's not be hypocritical here either because there are a number of people on this board who have done exactly what is being frowned upon here in the past. With a very few exceptions, we have all done it at one point or another. Whether it be quoting or post whoring. Like I said in another post, I enjoy coming on this board because I like everyone here and I have made some friends on this board, a few of which I communicate with outside of the board. That's what it is really about for me. The post count and everything else is all done in fun. I love my G35 and I enjoy the fact that there is somewhere that I can come to where we all have the same love. Let's all just loosen up a little bit. It's not that serious.

1) You have done nothing to argue my point. My opinion is that the tornado's are fun to make, other's say they're "so annoying because of x,y,z." those x,y,z's are obviously their opinions. so it becomes an issue of opinion vs. opinion. some like brocolli, i dont, but im not going to ask everyone who likes brocolli to not talk about it. being tolerant on issues such as abortion for example, is completely different. for the record, that quoting thing has been around for a LOOONNNGGG time. but it's only till recently till it's been brought up as a problem. i for one, think it's ridiculous how everyone is blowing it out of proportion. but i'll say this much... I went overboard, and shouldve stopped when other's asked. i didnt realize how many easily annoyed, short fused, fun-hating people were on this forum

2) what makes you say the 2-3 pages we made are "gibberish"? because you have no idea what we're talking about? or that you're not inetersting in what we say? how many times have i seen LC get off topic and start rambling off on things i really dont care about? (no offense LC) does that make it gibberish?? no it doesnt. it just shows that i'm lacking interest. what about the nearly 5 page essay that hexx and msb made about their gf problems... is that gibberish?? or is that just an exchange of points of view, of a subject that is rarely touched upon on this site?

3) im sorry but i dont understand how anyone could become "offended" over a group of friends having a good laugh on a thread that has lost interest. perhaps frustrated, annoyed, or even pissed off would be a better way to describe it. if someone were to get "offended" over such a ridiculous subject, then that person is never going to get married or have many friends.
