Default The Big Island golf vacation

Some pics from my Big Island trip this past weekend.

The Waikoloa Village course. Flock of wild turkeys. Johnny trying to run over the turkeys........talk about a lack of respect, they didn't even run away.

One of the Village holes. Bastards stuck a damn bunker in the landing area.

Quails at the Waikoloa Beach course.

Goats at the Waikoloa King's course. They come in off the lava fields to the oasis that is the golf course.

#3 at Mauna Kea (one of the most reconized holes in Hawaii golf). Forced carry over the small bay, 209yds to a tucked pin (dominant wind is from right to left making any shot directly at the pin a stupid one).

One more par 3 from Mauna Kea. Resort beach is to the right of this hole.

A pic of the mid-elevation to the upper elevation of Mauna Kea.

When you go to Waimea on the Big Island, they don't have stop signs, they have Woah signs.

I didn't know that there are wild turkeys in Hawaii

Beautiful as usual. Sorry smoke, but Miami doesn't come close to this beauty.

So, how'd you do on that par 3???? The prevailing wind is out to sea???? That's crazy. My swing tends to favor a draw....I'd have to hope there's a drop area on that hole

I hit 3 iron and aimed at the middle of the green. The wind was down, but I chickened out anyway and ended up pushing my tee shot up the hill to the right and long. From there I hit a really good pitch to 6 feet and promptly missed the putt.

I have played there 3 times so far and played crappy all three times. Sooner or later I'll get that courses number. Very challenging course and you gotta be able to put to score there, unfortunately I couldn't read any puts that day.

Did you know that I got really good at golf in the past month?
I shot a 104 for my first time out on a regulation course(Long Beach rec. center)
I convinced wifey to let me get a set of clubs.
I really like the way x-18's hit, but I would like to own a set of forged irons. What are you playing with Kurt? Btw, I have the ultimate driver for you, it's completely milled out of aluminum rather than that faggoty "tink" sounding titanium. So when I drive the ball 310 yds(straight), the sound goes "THUD". I would say it sounds similar to a persimmon wood.

I really love golf now, and I owe it all to Tiger Woods 2003, 2004 and 2006.

Dizz,
I used to play Cleveland TA-1's and still hold out hope of going back to them someday (forged musclebacks). Unfortunately since my handicap has headed north as well as my consistency in the last several years I went to a game improvement type club, Mizuno MP-30's.

I'd stay away from forged musclebacks unless you get into the low teens to single digit handicaps. The Callaway X-18's are a good game improvement type club.

BTW I raise the BS flag on a driver head completely milled from aluminum. You might be a big boy, but there isn't a shaft out there this side of a #4 rebar that can handle a head that heavy.

Next time in Hawaii I shall challenge you to a short drive contest. The shortest drive is Bitch Boy for the next week.

So, GZ, I"m heading into Honolulu next Friday, get in sometime in the afternoon. I have Saturday am and afternoon free and am looking to play a round then. I might be able to sneak out for another round Tues morning or afternoon. Let me know if you'd be interested in playing or, if you can't make it, give me some suggestions as to where to play! I'm staying at the Doubletree near the convention center.

If not golf, maybe a beer one night. Let me know.

Saturday golf is do-able. I out for Tuesday, actually am a private industry worker. If I was a public "worker" I'd say Tuesday would be do-able, sorry.

I'll PM you my cell phone and you can call me when you get here.

How's about Turtle Bay Arnold Palmer course (aka The Links). The LPGA & Senior PGA have played their? Totally flat, but is defended by the wind.
