just trying to point out that there is no real definite answer to that question. If I were not able to fear death, than would I be human? All living creatures have some fear. Obviously there are people who fear it to an extreme extent, but than there are people who fear it very little.
For example, When I first played paintball, I was excited to get to the field. I was "Gun Ho" But when the game started, I didnt run into action, I took my time, I ducked for cover, I picked my targets. Yes, I was afraid to an extent (not as "not afraid" as the others) but I still keep coming back. The adreniline was pumping, I was sweating, time slows down, I was faced with diffucult decisions with (fake) fatal consequences. And I still come back...to get in touch with that fear.
Your body has natural tools that tell you if you should be alert in such situations, so if your body never felt fear, would skydiving be any fun?
would speeding down the interstate at a buck 10 be intresting?
Is it possible that fear helps keep things in perspective.
Either way I agree with you, I would rather challenge that natural fear
Just trying to bring the other side, from a sort of anti absolutist position.
you need it and you dont
oh, and I tend to believe that common sence is diferent than wisdom
I prefere the wisdom aspect, where common sence is sometimes based on gut reactions and sometimes...arbitrary feelings (I think that people mistaken common sence for that...therefore, common sence as we define it, is not that common)
for example - stick in a lake, common sence would dictate that the stick is bent (using your eyes) but, empiricle knoledge would involve you to feel the stick, and discover that it is not really bent...but that your eyes only played a trick.
example - someone punches you
do you punch back and persue a brawl that will just get both of you hurt?
or do you stand down, and walk away? is it worth the consequences?
ok thats enought, good night

no punching isnt the right thing to do, thats totally barbaric and 18th century.
you find out where he lives, chloroform him and then handcuff him and duct tape him and then systematically blowtorch parts of his body. rub aloe on it and it heals up and you can keep it up for a while. bruises heal but burning leaves a lasting impression.
damn that reminds me, i gotta buy some more propane

I've been away for a few days, so I missed this post, here it goes:
WHAT IS YOUR FIRST NAME? Adrian
GOTTA NICKNAME? Silk (given to me in college by my fellow Fraternity brothers)
WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING? between 6:45 and 7am
WHERE DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL? jeez, I've grown up in so many parts of Southern Cali that I've gone to school everywhere. Most of the time I grew up in L.A. and lived in the community of South Gate, so I went to Bryson Elementary (Kindergarten and 3rd and 4th grade), South Gate Junior (all 3 years) and South Gate High (Fresh/Soph only), but my family moved and I graduated from Temecula Valley (junior/Sr). Talk about shell shock: South Gate vs. Temecula Valley was like night and day. All brown community to an all white community with big ford trucks and horse back ridng while at school. They didn't have the 42% dropout rate that South Gate had, but it took me a while to assimilate. Then I went to San Diego State and graduated 7 years later. Major: history with a minor in beerology + credit card debt
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG? Too many to list, but here are a few that I can always listen to: Stardust Blues and West End Blues by Armstrong, Little Wing & Machine Gun by Jimi Hendrix, Freedom, People of the Sun, & Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine, In my Life & All you need is Love by the Beatles, Sonata in C Minor Opus 14 No. 2 and the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, and A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
LONGEST RELATIONSHIP? It will be 10 hard but great years for my and my girlfriend this December. I intend to propose before then. And don't give me any shit about the price of the Rock.
IN A RELATIONSHIP NOW? see above
WHAT DO YOU DRIVE NOW? see signature. I don't have any other cars.
WHAT DID YOU DRIVE PREVIOUSLY? 1993 Honda Accord SE for 9 years. I almost reached 200K miles on her
WHAT WOULD YOU DRIVE IF MONEY WAS NO OJECT? BMW M3, that's my current dream car, but I'm really in love with my G.
IF YOU COULD EAT LUNCH WITH ONE FAMOUS PERSON, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD IT BE? oooh, that's a tough one being that I am an eternal student of History. Just one: Thomas Jefferson. But Abraham Lincoln & Gabriel Garcia Marquez would follow.
WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU DO? Marketing & Sales for a Design+Engineering, Design+Build firm, see www.asidesign.com
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB? Being a professional pool player, and a writer, or a professional connoisseur (the ones who get paid to eat or drink and then write about it, for real?)
HOBBIES? Reading, Music, playing pool, playing B-Ball, playing Halo, driving realy fast in My G., shooting my guns, good eating and even better sex
FAVORITE FOOD? Tacos, the real greasy kind not that shit they call a taco at Taco Bell. The Mexican stuff baby, 2 soft greased up corn tortillas with some sort of meat, onions & cilantro, and some salsa/chili. Chinese food comes 2nd.
FAVORITE DRINK? Non-Alcoholic: Hi-C Fruit Punch, Water, or Agua de Pina or Sandia. Alcoholic: whiskey+coke, rum+splash of coke, Miller High Life or Modelo Especial beer
FAVORITE MOVIE? John Woo's The Killer, Pulp Fiction, Dances with Wolves, Amadeus, Glory, When Harry Met Sally, Amorres Perros, & The Motorcycle Diaries to name a few
FAVORITE TV SHOW? I don't really watch TV anymore. I used to be a big X-Files and Homicide fan though. I also love to watch the repeats of The Simpsons, Malcolm in the Middle and Everybody loves Raymond
FAVORITE ACTOR/ACTRESSES? pass on this. I live in L.A. so you are surrounded by actors. Sometimes a decent actor well do well in a good part with a good director and a good screenplay (e.g. Keanu Reeves in the Matrix butl stink in another part), it's not always the actor with notable exceptions like Al Pacino in Scarface. Now hottest piece of ass in hollywood? That my friend requires another post entirely
FAVORITE COLOR? Black or Blue. I love them both equally.
AFRAID TO DIE? Yes. I haven't fully lived yet. Too many things to do still
WHOS YOUR BUDDIES ON 6MT? I think Smoke is cool, even though when you debate with Smoke he gets all furious and counters you with blah blah blah emotion instead of socratically debating+countering your argument. Hexxx, MSB, and Jil681 (the Donkey fan) are all cool and so is that dude from Vegas with that yin&yang avatar. I'm still a newbie and far from a post whore, so I hope to get to know more people soon and can actually mention you by name.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
You may call it myopia, you may call it faith, but I fully believe and I am always excited every brand new spanking season. Why shouldn't I be? 5 superbowl appearances, 3 super bowl rings, countless AFC West Division titles . . .
I always expect greatness for my team, just as I always expect greatness from myself. Hate away fellas, hate away.

FAVORITE MOVIE? currently ... Rounders or Good Will Hunting
I personally thought that Good Will hunting should of got the oscar that year instead of Titanic. Cameron deserved the best director award, but Good Will Hunting was a much deeper movie all around will no special effects. A true jem.
I respect you ambition to become a Supreme Court Justice - good for you- are you pe-law, history, or criminal justice?
