it's an island...the ocean is all around...but you mean, which every way is closest to the ocean, right?
yes. If you're playing on the east coast of the Island, the break will generally fall to the East and vice verca on the west coast. As a general rule, greens will break toward a large body of water and away from mountains.

It's the same here...I was just being a smartass because the ocean is all around you...
What has more break the Bermuda or Bent grass greens?
Bermuda has a lot of grain. The ball follows the grain. The problem is what do you follow? (Grain following the sun, the grain following the drainage path, & what happens when the ground crew replaces the plugs and don't align the grain with what is in there now, etc.)
In any case if you haven't played bermuda it's a real eye opener.

We have one course in town that has the Bermuda greens, but I can't fork over $120 for one round, not yet anyways...
Bermuda with heavy grain is really slow into the grain (which is not necessarily uphill), fast down grain, and tough as hell to spin balls on. When I went to the mainland I was sucking balls off the greens. It took me a little while to realize it was the different grass used on the greens. That course in Cypress is now out of business having been bought out by a church.

Churches are big business man. This course was right by one of the horse tracks. The church wanted more land to expand and get a day care center, etc. (at least that's how I heard it). They worked out some kind of deal and bought out the course.
BTW Tiger had the course record and now always will. If forget, but I think it was a 60 or something.

So now the church is right next door to a horse track? That seems alittle odd..
