Default Good day for the G

Well, after changing up my driving habits I managed to get 414 miles with one tank. I still haven't filled up yet but I think I can get more mies. Also, my CD player didn't skip at all this morning even though it was like 68 degrees out. WooHoo. Today is a good day indeed.

414 miles on one tank!?!?!? Wow, that's incredible. I am in bumper to bumper traffic most of the time and my mileage sux. Dang, I would be delirious if I could 414 miles on one tank of gas!

I was surprised too, however, half was strictly highway driving and cruise control on most of the way. I tried to use CC as much as possible, I imagine that would be hard with bumper to bumper traffic. Man that sux,

I have a hour commute to work each way(25 miles) and usually get 300 miles with 1/4 tank left, rarely ever take it down till the light comes on. Traffic isn't like LA, but you can still imagine its pretty bad to go 25miles in 1 hour.

WOW, only 250 miles? I thought that my foot was heavy, but I never went under 300 miles per tank (80% city driving) not even at break-in.

A few weeks ago I went on a trip and wanted to see how much I can get out of the tank and after driving 300 miles, the monitor showed over 200 miles left till empty at ~29 mpg average. That was pretty sweet to see that we can get 500+ miles out of the tank. But it was BORING as hell driving on cruise control at 70-80mph.

Ironrice, 414 miles is DAMN good with only half on the highway.

After I changed my driving habits and started using CC, I manage to get about 350 miles out of the tank (but that's 80% city driving)

Yup, nearly all my driving is in city stop/go, short trip with a very heavy foot. I'm seeing about 18.5mpg on average which is 2-3mpg better than I got with my previous car so I'm not too upset.

Heavy foot? I wish. There is too much traffic in Los Angeles to be able to rev it up and open the car up. I always shift at or before 4500rpm and hardly ever even get a chance to floor it or open it up. I've never used CC because I don't have an opportunity to use it. The 10 and 405 freeways are the most congested and busy in the U.S. Once I get off of the freeway, city driving isn't any better. In my case, my sh!tty gas mileage is due strictly to stop and go traffic. Like I said, I would be delirious if I could hit 300 miles on a full tank of gas!

I was thinking the same thing Hexx...then again maybe my fuel tank is having the issue where it's not getting all the way full when the pump shuts off? I generally get around 20-22MPG, and I drive her easy most times. Also mine is not as broken in as some, she's only 6 months now as of tomorrow.

How do we know if we are having that fuel tank issue? My car is only 2 1/2 months old but I don't think that there should be that much of a discrepency in fuel mileage just because it is not all the way broken in yet.
