Just for the record, I tried a bunch of the drinks listed on here tonight and I am stinking drunk! But at least I can still type unlike some people we know . . . . smoke! Thanks for the different suggestions, I liked most of them. I won't say which ones I didn't though.

You have to be careful with Booker's (my personal favorite), it's "barrel proof" which makes around 124-126 proof depending on the barrel.
woodford is the one of the best. i toured the distillary. booker's will kick your ass if you let. i used to party with booker noe's godson. unfortunately, booker died in 2004. my buddy had a case of whiskey left to him in his will.
No shit? You partied with Booker's son? That's cool as hell. He was quite a character. A couple of my favorite quotes from him are:
"The right amount of bourbon for sipping is two fingers. Lucky for me I have fat fingers."
"If you are in any way unhappy with our product, please return the unused portion and I'll drink it."

I've been to the Maker's Mark Distillery, the Woodford Reserve distillery, the Wild Turkey Distillery, and the Buffalo Trace distillery. It was actually really interesting learning about the history and process of making bourbon. So much so that it even had me kicking around the idea of getting a job with a distillery when I get out of the Navy.

Damn, all this talk about bourbon has me craving it. I guess I'll go pour myself a finger or two.
not his son, his godson. his son is fred noe, the man behind knob creek.

i also wanted a job at a distellary. right now jack daniel's is hiring, but i'm a little short on their required experience. besides, jack isn't bourbon. after talking to the main guys at woodford and makers, you pretty much have to be related to someone to work there.

This is the only way to enjoy real liquor - that, and a good cigar.

For me, scotch - neat. I prefer Johnnie Walker Black Label, I've not found any singlemalts that taste as good to me. Gold Label is good as well, Blue - daaamn, but it's expensive.

I've never acquired a taste for scotch. Maybe it's just because I've never had good scotch, but I've had Johnny Walker. It was probably red which is, I would guess, the difference between Jim Beam and Knob Creek. Same distillery, different worlds. I've had others too, but don't remember what they were.

But I like bourbon because its a little smoother and sweeter than the scotches I've had.

It depends on the setting which dictates what I'm drinking for example:

Football games:
Beer (except Bud Light, Rolling Rock Heineken, and Corona, I hate those beers) and touchdown shots. Everytime my team scores a touchdown the shots come, usually whiskey or jaegermeister. One time we made this rule that if there is a turnover (e.g. interception or recovered fumble so the Raiders are back), then we also take a shot, and one time when they were in the playoffs, we had this rule that if the Raider D takes the interception or fumble all the way back to the end zone, then we take 2 shots. Dude, I don't remember half the games in 2001.

Nice sunny afternoon drink when you aint' got shit to do: 7&7, a classic in my book.

Now, say I'm an uppity place, then it's either Gentleman Jack, Mt. Gay Rum, or Capt. Morgan's Private stock (that shit is good) with a splash of coke. By the 3rd one, usually I just drink it clean and on the rocks.

A good ice breaker if you are with chicks and they don't drink much: ask for a SURFER ON ACID. Works everytime. 1 part Jagermeister, 1 part Malibu Rum, and Pineapple Juice. Put it in something with a lid and shake well. This stuff will sneak up on you and it tastes really good and fun. Good crowd pleaser with a cool name.

STAY AWAY FROM THE PRAIRIE DOGS!: one shot of rum (or tequila if you are out of rum) with Tabasco or Tapatio sauce on top. Dude, only Marine guys or guys that want to prove a point drink this filth. I was in a Fraternity taking on my cousin who was in the Corp. . . 3 shots put me over the top and left me sleeping in the driveway with my own throwup. Good times Good times. Also, I can't stand the 3 WISEMAN SHOT. Jose Cuervo, Jack Daniels and Jim Beam (although, there are many variations). Oooh fuckin' nasty.

Ahahah. I do the same thing when I'm watching my Donks.

Some of those shots you were talking about remind me of a cement mixer- I think its 151, milk and tabasco. After that its BARF

oooohhh, that sounds painful even to read. Who drinks 151 anyway? I mean has anyone hear ever heard of someone just casually going up to a bartender and saying, can I get a shot or 151 on the rocks? Eeeeg gads. Only college kids buy that stuff. Or the occasional rioter who intends to make a Molotov out of it.
