Not necessarily because David Carr is still young and they have invested a lot of money in him. He will be given every opportunity to succeed also. Leinart might have to sit for a few years before he got a chance. I don't think that Houston would draft him though. Someone like Cleveland might.
same thing happened to drew brees, but chargers still got philip rivers

carr sux anyways
In Drew Bree's case, SD fully intended on making Phillip Rivers the QB. They did not count on Drew Brees turning around and having a career year. He forced them to re-sign him and sit Phillip Rivers for a few years. That's probably the best thing for Rivers anyways.

correct. Drew's contract expired at the end of last season, the Chargers signed him for an additional year (expires at the end of this season). AJ Smith being the smart guy that he is signed Brees and benched Rivers (thank goodness!) pretty much to play Brees and see his potential.
Just today 3rd string QB Cleo Lemon was traded to Miami in exchange for AJ Feely. This now adds another ingredient to the mix...To make this long story short, my prediction is for Rivers to be traded off at the end of this season to the highest bidder. I think Brees is to big an asset for SD and it would be foolish to trade him.
He was San Diego's 3rd string QB. He had a lot of playing time in the preseason games and actually impressed a lot of people. He lacks actuall NFL (1st stringer) experience though. I see lots of potential when he's up to par.
During those preseason games, Rivers was playing and played poorly, so they pulled him and played with Lemon, he did good.

well first impressions arent everything
when aj feeley was in the philadelphia eagles... i remember there was this important game (i dont recalle whether it was a play off game or what). but the eagels needed that game. mcnabb got hurt, and feeley came in the game. from his own 10 yrd. line, he had to work all the way across the field to score a touchdown; and he did. i was very impressed. when the dolphins got a hold of him, i thought we had gotten a hell of a qb... but i guess not
maybe it was the system here in miami that lead to his failure as a dolphin. but never the less, you guys are getting a good 2nd stringer
Hey, you just never know. Tom Brady was Drew Bledsoe's backup in New England! Just because someone is not a 1st rounder doesn't mean that they can't succeed in the NFL!

yeah, i know that hexx... zach thomas was a 5th rounder and he's led the nfl in tackles since 95.
tom brady is a good decision maker, he's not exactly gifted physically, but he knows what to do with the ball. somewhat the opposite of peyton manning.

There's an interview on the Chargers site where it's said he wasn't comfortable in Miami. I wonder why?
Speaking of 3rd string QBs, what the hell happened to Drew Henson? So much for being the future QB of the Cowboys! I wonder if he regrets giving up on baseball?
