I'm finally back in Japan after my 3 weeks in Korea. I never thought I would be excited about getting back to Iwakuni. Right now we are getting ready for what they are calling a "Super Typhoon" (basically what they call a hurricane in the Western Pacific) that is supposed to hit later today. I'm stocked up on food and water ready for the worst.
I got some good pictures from the DMZ (saw a ROK Army guy who looked a lot like ironrice) and from partying the last couple of nights there. I am in the process of editing them and will get them posted as soon as I can. All in all it was a good trip. The work itself was mind-numbingly boring, but I met a lot of really cool people. It was torture being surrounded by all of the Air Force enlisted hotties running around. Especially since its apparently no big deal for them to go out and drink and party with officers (something you would NEVER see in the Navy/Marine Corps). Also bought a TON of stuff there. I bought 3 leather jackets and only spent a little over $300 for all three. Drank a lot. Ate a lot. All in all it was a good experience.
That's cool man. I kinda wished I had your life, but then again it would be hard to have a stable relationship, not to take anything away from your lifestyle cuz it's hot. I'll love to do all the things you do and see all the things you see. Must be really nice.
Good luck with the super typhoon! Let us know how it goes? How fast are the winds?
At the moment they are 35 knots, gusting to 40. We're about 6-12 hours from the full force of it. It looks like it has taken a turn to the north and is coming pretty much directly towards us. Should be interesting.
...but then again it would be hard to have a stable relationship
Yeah, I've pretty much not had a relationship longer than about 2-3 months since I joined 5 years ago. Nothing more than a few weeks in the last two years. But I've had fun and have a lot of good stories. Trade-offs to everything right?
Navy, the thing I hear alot about the Air Force is that it's run more like a corporation than a military, and in many ways it is and many ways not. One of my coworker was an prior enlisted man and he was telling me about stories of enlisted girls dating, or fooking, pilots and officers. He told me it was a common practice. I believe it, couple of weeks ago I was out and this enlisted guy I know from my squadron was out with a couple of girls and one of them was pretty hot. I suspected the girls might have been enlisted but at the same time they could have been locals. Anywho, the hot girl wanted to dance and my buddy, well the enlisted guy, was like hey she wants to dance with you so I was heck yea. So we danced and had fun but I was having too much fun so I went up to the enlisted guy I knew and asked him if she was enlisted. The answer was yes. Darn, and he also said she was married. WHOA, smell you later sista. I ain't trying to get locked up for no poontang. Anyways, that's my one and only encounter with enlisted poontang.
Typhoon update: Died down for a long time, winds went to 25mph. A while ago the kicked back up to 50mph. Now they are somewhere around 45mph. It's dark outside so I can't see what kind of effects the wind is having. The cool thing about it is when it went to 50mph, we moved to a higher level of readiness so the chow halls were closed which meant I got to eat an MRE for the first time. Not too bad. Tasted a lot like a TV dinner.
And iron, I had probably 3 opportunities had I chosen to pursue them. All in just the 3 weeks I was in Korea. A lot of it had to do with the fact that we were all living together in "tent city", we were all very far away from our regular commands, and I was hanging around with a lot of intel types who are apparently even more relaxed with each other. It was tough because the Air Force EASILY has the best looking women, ESPECIALLY the enlisted ones. A lot of times I would be just sitting in a bar and a girl would come up and start calling everyone by their first names and it would be a couple of hours before I found ou that she was actually enlisted. But I was strong and managed to keep myself out of a court-martial. That was a very good call not hooking up with a married enlisted chick. That is trouble you don't need on so many levels.

Exactly Navy. I do agree that the Air Force has the best looking Enlisted girls but lets stick to our guns and stay away from being on the cover of air force/navy times. I don't agree with this fratinization thing if the people are not in the same unit or even the same service but that's what we signed up for and as officers we have to stick to our guns and leave our guns in our pants.
Ahh...but the forbidden fruit has such a strangely alluring quality to it...who can resist that which is forbidden to them?
Glad you are back and safe...with lots of good stories for your dirty gal penpal...sorry our chat Friday Night was interrupted by my drunk friend in need of a couch. I'll make it up to you "ifen" you make it to LV.
