You too, Tommy Trojan rules!!! Do you know what the spread is for the game vs. Hawaii? Our offense is gonna be awesome!!! Leinart may throw 50 touchdowns this year! I am a little bit concerned about our D though. There are a lot of new faces out there. But then again, our coach is a defensive wiz, so I'm not too worried. With all that talent out there, it is just a matter of getting some playing time and experience.
hex, responding to your question here and in another thread, the spread is around 34 points I'm quite surprised by this given its a road game, first game, and all. We'll see.
sc's #1 and all but that means everybody's gonna be gunning for us. i think the tough games are going to be against oregon, arizona state, cal and fresno state. don't get me wrong, i bleed cardinal and gold but i'm also being realistic. i don't think we're gonna blow out opponents by 30 points like we've been doing the past two years.
Lardoggy-Thanks bro. I figured that the spread would be something ridiculous like that. But it is Hawaii so it shouldn't be a close game. Let's just hope that they don't get any inspiration from the Hawaiian little league team that just won the LL World Series.
superdds-As good as last years team was, they had some very close games. I think that it is very unrealistic to think that they are gonna blow everybody out. They will blow some people out and will probably have some close games too. As long as the level of coaching and execution (did I spell that right? ) doesn't fall off, they can pretty much overcome any situation out there. How many times were they down and out of synch early in the game and then the coaching staff made there adjustments and the Trojans won? As long as they are able to continue to do that, there is no reason that we won't be celebrating a 3Peat!!!
Jaylin-Don't hate, congratulate! Seriously though, 34 points is a bit much. I will never bet against my alma mater so I guess I won't bet against the line. But if you want to bet straight up . . . .nevermind.
one very important piece of the puzzle that we're missing this year is norm chow...he was uncanny at making adjustments in the offense. one factor in how we came back to win some of those close games ie. oregon state, virginia tech, stanford.

Ditto my friend, by far the biggest off season loss was the Norm.
I doubt we'll cover this week. The first game is usually riddled with errors and mistakes, so I doubt we'll be all that dominating right out of the gate. However, Hawaii lost Timmy Chang the most prolific QB in NCAA history....not sure who's gonna be replacing him. The fans there will be fired up for the game too.

plus they have that crazy hawaiian guy on the sidelines with his crazy eyes that's always sticking his tongue out. freak!!

Very true! Monty Kiffin's kid has some very big shoes to fill. The one thing about Norm is that he always new that perfect play to call to take advantage of whatever weakness he found in the opposing teams defense. That is a huge key this year.
That SI cover is awesome Hex! I managed to save that one and the one from the prior year....I've been meaning to get them framed together but just keep putting it off! Maybe I'll wait to see what happens in January
si had hardbound special edition issues for both the 2003 and 2004 national championships ...i managed to pick both up but had to wait like 3 months for delivery.

I also have both SI's and I've also been meaning to get them framed. I also got the commemorative leatherbound one from SI. I've only opened it once to look at it. I also have that one put away with the other 2 SI mags. Damn, I am so looking forward to this season. I already hear smack talk from the Oregon fans!
you're gonna hear smack from every school and then some...can you believe there are still some oklahoma fans talking smack on sc forums? if 55-19 isn't a wake up call, i don't know what is.
