Default Stuck in a Rut?

Anybody in the same situation, past or present? I feel like I'm stuck in life and don't know how to get out. Suggestions or personal experiences???

I definitely am. I'm thinking about taking a swing shift at work instead of days. This would free me up to get out and socialize more... I think it will anyways. Seems like all I do these days is work and sleep.

I have felt that way for the past two years. Same routine, same activities, same everything. I know change is good but not quite sure how to make that transition. I wish I knew also.

i know how u feel man. i feel like that now...especially cuz i'm starting to re-evalute my quality of like situation. it was worse before cuz i was working 6 days and my sundays were pretty busy too. so i decided to just go for it and close my business on saturdays. now i truly know the meaning of "TGIF".

anyways, as for a suggestion, how about taking some night classes in an area where ur out of ur comfort zone? cooking classes, arts, religion, finance. you could meet some cool new friends, network and get ideas for investments, even meet a girl =P

Rut here.

Been working the same job for about 4.5 years now ever since I got out of college.

I was thinking maybe of taking some classes... but what I really want to do is move to Cali or someplace else where the weather is nice all year long.

Definitely feeling the same way. I've been working at the same 2 jobs for too long (5 at one, 10 at the other). Still living at home... and still in school. With the exception of the second job, I feel like I could still be in high school or undergrad. yay.

I'm hoping that once I graduate in December, i'll be able to get myself out of this rut somehow.

Taking classes is a good idea. When I first started school again I was happy to be doing something else - now I just want it to be over so I can move on to something else

In the meantime, you could just use your vacation time for something completely off-the-wall. Find your passport, throw a dart at a map and go there. Don't make too many plans beyond transportation and lodging and just see what you discover when you get there. And you don't necessarily need a lot of money. You'd be amazed how cheaply you can travel and still have a good time.

I think mine is a bit to deep to call a rut, more of a trench. I've been working at the same place in the same department for 6 1/2 years now and even with 4 position changes its just a drag. 4 non-contract days a year is a joke even with weekends and federal holidays off (technically at least, 24/7/365 on call pretty well kills that).

The longest I've been away from work was this June when I was sent to a conference in Hot Springs for 3 days that butted up against a weekend. Even then I got several calls on my drive down and while down there, and had to remote into my work system to fix some stuff.

I miss being in school, going to class, sleeping and still being on the clock.

Network and Systems Administrator / Special Projects / Programmer for one of the bigger K12 distrticts in Arkansas. I don't make quite as much as my predecessor did, but He also had many more years of experience (too bad it didn't help him any), however I'm still making considerably more than the average for a 2 income family in the state. The money isn't nearly as much as I could get in the private sector, but the job security and flexibility makes up for it.

as far as "getting out"
i am seriously considering learning to bartend then move to an island for a few years. i love bermuda but too expensive.
this is something i am going to start seriously looking into.

any suggestions?
or anyone in the Philly area want to offer me a career change? HAHA
