Default Thoughts on the Soon-To-Be-Available Lexus IS-350?

Does anyone care to make any bold predictions on the new Lexus IS350 that will be released soon?

It's supposed to have a 305 HP, 277 TQ, 3.5 Liter V-6 Engine with Variable Valve Timing, and a RWD Platform(Just like the current IS300). Toyota has never been one to exaggerate on their HP numbers, so this car sounds like it could give the G35 Coupe a run for its money, considering that it's a pretty decent looking vehicle and also has 4 doors... along with a plethora of luxury features. One could only assume that it will be a very reliable vehicle as well, given that most Toyotas generally are. As for pure speed, they claim that it will do 0-60 in under 6 seconds... but it's really hard to tell just how fast it will be without gearing and weight information available to us.

I haven't heard anything about pricing yet.. but the old IS300's were in the $32K price range.. so, if I were to venture a guess... I would assume this new IS350 to be in the $36-42K area.

Thoughts, Opinions?

Here's the info direct from the Lexus Site:

Darn, time to upgrade to the Vortech SC for me. Well as soon as I save up enough lunch money.

I'm a little leary on pricing. They offer the IS250 as well and one would think the 350 would be higher in price. Could be a great car but my fear is that it will be notably higher putting you in a different price category. I hope I'm wrong though.

the 350IS is the only car that would make me consider tradin the G for. but even at that, i still like the G styling more.

it's going to be very fast i'll tell you that much. it'll beat the 03-04 coupes, i'll have my money on it. but im not too sure about the 05's.

I'll bet the IS350 will go for a minimum of $40k, more likely $45k to $50k and will out accelerate the G quite handily. I don't know about braking or turning on it, I'd guess the G will still match or better it there.

Toyota's lineup is going to be vastly different in 2007. I just hope we don't see the death of the Japanese sports car like in the mid 90's.

I agree. Given the expected performance boost this car should get, I would have expected a more aggressive exterior styling package as well. Oh well, what do I know?

I like it (for a sedan). I would certainly consider that model versus the G if I was in the market for a sedan and the prices were comparable. However, I'm a coupe guy, so no dice!
