The front end looks someohow like it is trying to steal the essence of the new Mustang, only in a much more hideous fashion.
Dodge has fallen off the charts with their recent vehicle lineup. The company that supposedly used to pride itself on being the innovative rebels of the automotive design scene during the 60's and 70's, appears to be struggling to even keep pace with the likes of Ford these days.
All they really have now is the Viper.
At least the SRT version of the Charger is sported up a bit with a rear spoiler, an aggressive hood scoop and some painted calipers. I wonder how much more the SRT version will cost when compared against the base model.

Uh...yeah...the new Charger doesn't exactly inspire a very emotional response but its stats aren't half bad. What I enjoyed most about this article was the reflection on Charger's past. A few wrenches, multiple carb set up and a can of Schlitz beer was all a man needed to feel like a decent weekend racer/mechanic...Now you gotta have computer degree.
An old HS buddy of mine had a Plymouth Roadrunner which was very smiliar to these Chargers and it was a BAD ASS car......as long as you didn't have to turn or hit the brakes too fast But, it was great for cruisin Whittier Blvd on a Saturday night.....those days weren't so bad.
Since when did the historic chargers that are deserving of the nameplate have 4 doors? Not that there is anything wrong with having 4 doors (I have a 6mt sedan ) but if you are going to bring back a name like that, do it right.

PS...good find LC...I'm very impressed
I had a brand spanking new 1972 Road Runner with a 400 ci motor. It ran like a dog, got rid of it a year later.
Very disappointed in the Chrysler guys for doing this. They've got the 300 platform so they figure, let's capitalize on the name of the Charger......especially when you've got the Dukes of Hazzard movie coming out.

"No emotional response"...exactly...I already have very little love for American cars...a couple of old muscle cars is just about it...though the love I have for those few would go far. I didn't think using "Charger" was appropriate as look at the person writing the piece...emotional response to the old car...he won't be saying this 25 years later about this new POS.
I liked the article, that is about it...I read a lot of car mags with names like Octane and Car...so yes, British, European...$8.25 a pop. It is really amazing that I have a Japanese Car...
LC if you've got no love for american cars, you need to ride in a car with a big gas-sucking engine.
The engine thunders.........you ass gets planted in the seat when you accelerate, setting off car alarms, making those old under-body neon lights flicker and go off, the driver's seat is a massage chair and there's no need for a radio.....

Nice visual bouncing around in my head right now!
Another friend of my in HS had a Datsun (yes, Datsun) pickup with a Chevy 327 dropped in in. That little fucker was fast....at least when the wheels weren't spinning. He liked to drive around with the muffler disconnected.....probably the loudest car I've ever been in.
