ok, some of you may bash me for talking of my excessive speeding... but whatver... i am not careless.
i was bored tonight with nothing to do... so i decided to go for a long drive.
i will be honest.. i did have the intention of seeing if i could get to or close to top speed.
i drove from home (Collingswood, NJ - right across the bridge form Philly) all the way up past Jim Thorpe, PA to the exit for Mt. Pocono. (about 100 miles each way)
i didn't realize how hard it is to get up to 158 (or whatever top speed is)
you really need a good length of open highway with no cars - and that's not as easy as i thought (now that i have tried)
i got to 120 then next to 125 then a little past 130 (131, 132) about 3 times.
it wants to keep going, but i just kept running into turns or traffic - so i slowed down each time.
i did make good time home tho.
105 miles in 1:10 >> avg 90mph -- not bad (haha)
i made even better time thru the EZpass section - 75 miles in :45 >> avg. 100 mph
(good thing they cannot give tickets from that!)
just thought i'd tell of my fun sat night driving alone... haha
i was just surprised at how solid this car feels going that amount of speed and several times - also taking a turn at 120 was rather fun.

Yeah it's totally suprising (to myself at least) how well the handling and ride is at high speeds. There were several times the other day I glanced down and noticed I was hitting 100mph w/o even realizing it or trying. What got me though was when I was doing 100 and a county sherrif's prisoner transport van passed me like I was parked.

careful guy ... don't wanna read bout you wrapping yourself around a tree or guardrail at 120. Any reason for the long drive or just felt like it?
been wanting to just go for a drive for a while... i enjoy driving and don't get to drive that often now (long distances)
when my ex-gf lives in CT and went to school in DE - i was driving somewhere pretty muich every weekend... but now i barely get a few towns over.
i know saying "i was driving safe" sounds corny. but really i was. that's why at first glance of any car i would slow down. and i would not take turns very fast (except that one - but it was a small curve)
the cool thing with the navigation... i could see the roads coming up and wait for a decent sized sraight-a-way.
it was an entertaining night tho....

Sounds like an entertaining night in the G....wish I have some highways around here like that w/o any state police!!!! Not that I'll go G-crazy, but everyone has those days to just see how much the G can really do! Highest I went was 135 give or take 1-2 mph.....if you know what you're doing and no how to do it right w/ confidence, then there's nothing to be afraid of!!! Now if your conscience is telling you no don't do it, then it's for a reason!!!
I have a real good highway right near my house for top speed tests, as long as you drive a few exits down in advance to scope for cops... but I rarely ever take advantage of it. There are too many deer around here to regularly risk that type of test where I live.
Often times, I'll be driving home from the bar/club with my friends on a Saturday night and see a deer that got blasted and is splattered across all 3 lanes and spread over a what must be about 1/7th of a mile of the highway. Not a pretty site, and you certainly don't want to come across a live deer, or a dead deers remains in your path when doing top speed tests like that.

uhhh, ive been up to 130 + in a relatively short amount of time, it was a complete straight away though. i probably couldve topped out, but i got kinda scared once i started seeing the traffic reappear.

yeah getting up to 130 was not very difficult... but it seemed like each time i got there - i was approaching traffic - and like i said, i was not taking any chances. (plus there is always a good chance that one of those cars you are approaching is a cop)
same with me - i could have gotten much higher - at least over 140 or 145 - but i didn't want to risk it in that situation... like said when your insticts tell you to stop - it is usually for a good reason.

I would imagine Hawaii might be a bit harder than other places to find long stretches of highway to do that on.
