I'm jelous of you So Cal people. My buddy has been living in San Diego for a few months now (lived in Jersey his whole life) and said he will never come back. I gotta go out and visit him soon.
Almost 25 years ago I lived in sin on a 50ft ketch at Shelter Island Marina in SanDiego with a very lovely young woman who taught me all I know about loving, emotionally and physically. Lived in an oceanside house right on the Mission Beach boardwalk for a year or so just prior to that, and I can say without hesitation it was a wondeful, carefree existance in a very beautiful area and almost perfect climate. Why I came back East is another story, but many times I wondered what possessed me to do so. Funny thing, on my last vist back, I realized the place had changed SOOoo dramatically, I really didn't care much for it anymore. The sweet memories will have to suffice...
laguna beach is full of stuck up people who need to get a beat down, it always amazes me that people buy expensive sheeyet to show off and then are amazed when their houses get washed away or fall down year after year. oooh so i guess since houses fell off the cliffs every year it might not happen this year??? duh, its like the malibu of orange county.
corona del mar is much nicer imo.

I believe that a lot of people who live in beach communities have a pretentious attitude. I see this a lot in Newport Beach, particularly Newport Coast. The thing I like about Laguna is that a lot of people who live there don't really have a lot of money (relatively speaking) but were lucky enough to get into some good real estate. There are a lot of artists and hippies that still live in the area (no, not on the cliffs, but in the city) which makes that town a bit more palatable to me.
Corona Del Mar is beautiful. I used to date a girl who lived there and I could NEVER shake the feeling that I was an outsider there. Every time we went out, she knew everyone and I knew no one. its a small town and visitors seem to stand out like sore thumb.
