I might be buying a used Z-Tube off someone on another forum.
Is there any good practices or interim sites to go through to make sure that the person I'm buying the item off of isn't just yanking my chain?
I'd hate to send him some money and then never get a Z-Tube shipped to me.
Any suggestions?

How does this help insure that he sends me something though?

Do not use Paypal. I have heard numerous complaints where they do not help the purchaser recover his money.
Use a credit card for payment, you will have 60 days to dispute the charges.
I'd advise against personal checks since the seller can get a lot of personal information off of it that can be used against you. If it's small money and you aren't too worried about getting stiffed you can go money order.
The best suggestion I have is to see if he's sold anything to other members and if he's a long time member (and pretty active), those are all signs that the person is more of a stand up guy than the newcomer.

How can I use a credit card to pay a private party though?
Doesn't that generally require that the person have some sort of a business or other facility of accepting credit card payment?

GZire pm me if you want to get rid of your z tube.
I've bought some stuff off of the forums and I think a lot of it has to do with how long the seller has been an active member. I wouldn't send 50 bucks to some people but I sent a few hundred dollars to Bizz with no guarantees without a second thought and everything worked out perfectly.
