so, did you ever end up getting the 454 casull?

No. I've been too busy with work to think about it.

FYI, here's the process for Hawaii.
1. Buy gun, get a receipt and take it to HPD.
2. HPD performs a background check.
3. HPD contacts you several weeks later and gives you the temp permit.
4. Take temp permit to gun store and pickup gun.
5. Take gun back to HPD and register it.

It's a pain in the butt, so while I haven't given up on the idea, it's going to have to wait until I have time.

Several weeks? It only takes like 5 minutes here, they do it over the phone from the gun store.

Yeah, Hawaii gun laws are pretty restrictive.

Remember the federal ban that died a little while ago? No effect over here, our state laws are already tougher than the federal, so when the federal ban expired it didn't do anything down here.
