Astros put the smack down on the Yanks!!!
June 11, 2003
An MLB-record six Astros pitchers combined to no-hit the New York Yankees in an 8-0 victory Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
After Roy Oswalt departed after one inning with a strained groin, relievers Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner combined to hold the Yankees scoreless over the remaining eight innings, striking out eight of the final nine hitters.
Dotel tied a Major League record by striking out four batters in the eighth inning.
It was the 10th no-hitter in Astros history, the first combined no-hitter in club history and it broke the Yankees Major League-best streak of not being no-hit. It was the first time the Yankees had been held without a hit since 1958.
