I'm finding that my obsession with football is definitely screwing up my baseball/softball throwing motion. I keep trying to do the football motion where you don't really step into it sometimes... like if you're floating a pass over a defender, or throwing on the move.
We have a lot of old bastards on my team. One of the kids that struck out is a baseball-convert.
If you play softball... I'm sure you know how that goes. They typically join the team and are pretty confident/cocky that they're better than everyone else.... then proceed to lead the league in strikeouts.

No complaints though, they fuel our beer parties.
We have several of those. Yet they can't figure out that the ball is bigger and strength doesn't really matter. It's knowing how to postion the ball.

At the higher levels of softball it's all about positioning the ball over the fence. Powerful gorillas rule.

To prevent teams from eliminating the skill aspect of hitting in our league(and just stocking up on ex-minor league players, etc.)... my league has a 5 home-run limit per game, per team.
Any HR's your team hits beyond the 5th is an automatic out.

I've always thought that homeruns ruin the game. It's actually much harder to place the ball properly and you can get more runs this way. I like finding the weakest player on a team and continue to hit either line drives or a one/two skip hit at them.

Man you guys don't want homers? You should try the 14" fastpitch. It's like hitting a big ball of dough, it doesn't go anywhere.
