Got your attention, didn't I Keep your ears open for news about HPV (Human PapillomaVirus) this week and vaccines against cervical cancer and genital warts. The International Papillomavirus Conference is being held this week in Vancouver and I'm flying out today to attend. It should be a blast. I'm also going to Whistler for a night just to hang out (very cool spot).
For those that aren't familiar with HPV, it is a viral sexually transmited disease that causes cervical cancer in women and sometimes anal cancer in men (typically gay men). It also causes genital warts in both sexes. A few companies are working on vaccines against HPV (including mine) and one should be on the market next year.
Hmmm what's the name of your company? I might invest in it.
Now I can't make it that easy for you . See if you can figure it out by the news this week. I think that our stock price already reflects the fact that we will soon have a vaccine against cervical cancer.
I can't believe your bragging about going to that conference. I would tell people I was going to a porn convention before I say anything about a STD convention.

What's wrong with going to a porn convention?
I'll pass on shaking anyone's hand in here......sorry.

Nothing's wrong with a porn convention, but I still wouldn't shake anyone's hand.

No bragging, I was just stoked that I was getting away for a week to Vancouver and thought I'd mention that you may hear something about HPV this week. Also, it is very likely that each one of you who are not virgins has been exposed to HPV at some time in your lives. The body can sometimes fight it off naturally, but sometimes it can't. You likely wouldn't even know that you had it unless you saw genital warts. Men carry many HPV types (cancer causing types, not genital wart types) and give them to women...that's how women get cervical cancer.
The conference is about sharing medical and scientific information that will be directly responsible for saving up to 500,000 lives per year around the world (not just talking about people with STDs). It's pretty cool to think that the work that I'm doing will contribute to saving these people's lives.
