Default Automatic Car Wash

I'm curious how many people live on the edge and use automatic car washes. I use them when I have to - when the car is dirty and I don't have time to wash myself.

How about everyone else?

i've never put the G through an auto car wash but sometimes I go to the do it yourself high pressure places when I don't get a chance to head home and steal my parent's driveway & water

Dude, that's not living on the edge, that's just plain stupid.
I might as well pour some coke, brake fluid, egg whites and whatever other God awful stuff on my cars finish.

Mine is always washed by hand. If I don't do it then I take it to this place that does wash strictly by hand. It is done in the shade with the old hose and clean bucket of suds. Cost to have someone do it for me is $13 and that gets you the outside washed, tire dressing and the interior cleaned and windows done. Also if the floor mats look a little dirt that actually clean them for you as well. To me $13 is a good deal to get a hand job....hahaha!

I've been through a couple local car washes and have been very lucky. One of the local places has the plastic glide stuff on their guide rails, and has you drive the car through (which is cool).

I've no notable damage on the wheels from it, as I said I've been lucky. No damage to the finish, either, I polished the G again two weeks ago and noted a big drop in swirls and scratches. Gotta love the Porter-Cable Dual-Action Polisher.

If I know that it's going to rain and my car is dirty, I will go through a touchless car wash and get some of the grim off of it. Other than that I try to wash the car once a week and wax it once a month.

I've never used an automatic car wash. I don't live in a city situation where that's the only option either (or the hostile winter weather either).

A coworker of mine almost took her car through a charity carwash this weekend. Then she saw them putting Comet into the water and took off.
