At what point do you think that gas prices will start to affect your daily life? Right now they are more of an inconvenience to me but they are getting close to the point of forcing me to alter plans. I was hoping to purchase a boat soon but between the taxes that we owe this year and now gas prices, it looks like those plans are put on hold indefinitely.
I really feel bad for students and those who make minimum wage. I'm not sure how they are surviving if they have to drive to school or work.

I only had to fill up my tank twice since i got my car, missing the 87oct already. Only affect it has on me is that I don't drive too far for lunch anymore.
Washington already has sickeningly high gas prices (though not as bad as Cali and other I agree), and they are proposing a $.15/gallon tax now to cover redoing 2 bridges in the area that are 40+ years old and crumbling - cause no one had the foresight to fathom that they would need to eventually need to be replaced anyway...
Not liking it, but thank goodness for Costco and Safeway gas for now.
I drive my honda more often and baby the G alittle more to get more mpg. Geez, when are hydrogen car going to be available? BMW made a record speed with their hydrogen car so power won't be too much of a factor in these cars. http://www.bmwworld.com/hydrogen/ Also, I read an article about gas companies teaming up with the US govt to research hydorgen. http://www.autoindustry.co.uk/news/i...ews-58dnbep5b4 I can't wait because even though I might have to buy a new car it will be environmentally safe and we won't have to fight other countries over oil and kick OPEC right in the nuts.
Well I just paid $2.62/gal last night.......yay.....
NWG35, I scoff at your lawmakers since my lawmakers are clearly much more stupid. There has been talk of taxing gas and/or raising the GE tax to pay for a light rail system. This is the same system that we had major federal money allocated for several years ago. Since our lawmakers refused to back it then, we now get to pay for the whole thing if it goes forward.
40 years for a bridge isn't too bad. However politicians like to look good in the short term rather than being unpopular and planning for the long term. It's amazing how consistently crappy they are.
Well unfortunately that's what we get when they have no actual idea what the hell they are voting on (unless it's a raise for themselves.........yes it's happened down here).
......very angry........starting to rant.........sorry.

i'm going to have to play my engineer card on this one. i agree, gas prices are getting out of hand, especially here in san diego. but, if you think about it it's still cheaper than water, milk, O.J... hydrogen fuel cells (an area i have done some research in) are not limited by the availability of hydrogen, they are limited by on board storage capacity and weight. also, since there is still a pretty good supply of crude left (at least 15 years), there isn't enough drive to perfect them. i think it will have to hit about 5 bucks/gal in the U.S. to really drive the fuel cells. however, they will be very cool engine designs. they are not a combustion of hydrogen, they use the electrochemical potential across a membrane to drive voltage. (a redox battery) so the car will be run from an electric motor, which will have a perfectly flat torque curve, unlike internal combustion that has to spool up to get max power.
to play to my evil side, i'm really looking forward to gas getting so expensie that the monster SUVs dissappear.
GZ - funny, we also have a light rail system going in that will cost billions, and we are also paying for that Ironically it isn't even going to be something most people use, sadly enough.
On the SUV front, they are also talking about an additional tax on vehicles based on weight (which I have been saying should be done for YEARS now). The heavier you are, the more the tax - it only makes sense, as heavier vehicles do more damage over time to roads, especially all the shopping mall moms here that put on studded tires in the winter and never even go to the mountain passes (studs are legal Nov 1 - Apr 1, and no Seattle almsot NEVER gets snow, and when we do it rarely lasts more than 12 hours).
Gzire 2.62 for a gallon is just about what I'm paying here in cali. I have a civic and I fill her up with 89 octane. The last time I filled her up it cost me 30 bucks!!! I started crying at the pump...I only pumped in like 10 gallons...and my car is getting shitty ass mileage cuz its breaking in. I hate these prices...its killing the little poor kids.
How does Boggie1688 try to save gas? Put the damn car in nuetral everywhere he goes. Wether it be flat, downhill or uphill if I know I can make it to the stop sign or light with the momentum I'm carrying BAM nuetral I go. Its gotten really rediculous too to the point there I'd be rolling at like 20mph on a main street just soo I could reach the red light. People pile up behind me but I don't care...cuz the lights red and they won't be going anywhere.
I am affected by the "pump tourrette's syndrome" I have developed. When I'm filling the tank I am overcome by fits of swearing uncontrollably and cursing OPEC.

hydrogen cars aren't really any more evnironmentally safe than gasoline engines. i've read about that in more than one place, but most recentaly april issue of car & driver, Csaba Csere column. it also mentions the BMW v-12 that went 188 with 282hp. a v-12 and all it produced was a lame 282hp?!?! i'm not very impressed.
here's a paragraph from car & driver, which also hits on how bulky and heavy these things are.
"Sounds, great, except for the usual difficulties of using hydrogen as a fuel. The H2R carries 24 pounds of hydrogen in liquid form in a big super-thermos next to the driver. Liquid hydrogen is the densest form of the fuel, but the insulated tank required to hold it at 423 degrees below zero is necessarily heavy and bulky. Moreover, it takes roughly six kilowatt hours of elecricity to liquefy each pound of hydrogen. Generated in a coal fired plant, that quantity of electrical energy creates about as much carbon dioxide as you'd get by burning half a gallon of gasoline, which contains the same energy as that pound of liquid hydrogen. That's no way to solve global warming."
it's actually a good article, would read it if you haven't.

Yeah this gas crap is really starting to hurt. Paid $2.42 the other day. No telling what it is today except that the guy that changes the number must have put up a tent and is sleeping under the sign since he has to go out there so often.
Yeah what a year ago we were paying like a buck less. That is like $17 more to fill the G. I put like $30 in the other day and only got like 12 gallons.
I find myself driving the G more since my monster truck only get like 12 to 13 miles to the gallon and it has a 25 gallon tank, so that will be $60.50 to fill it from empty. So about $41 to fill the tank on the G. The truck I only get about 4 to 5 days out of a tank. Maybe 5 or 6 with the G if I don't go any where.
Yeah gas prices suck. Too bad you couldn't piss in it. Someone needs to invent th engine that runs on piss. Now I have heard that some mobile homes run on crap by burning off some of the grey water tank. Don't know home much energy it produces. I think it still runs on fuel for the most part.

I used to have the fill a company truck a couple of years ago, 3/4T 4X4. Crappy gas mileage, but the tank was enormous. The first time I filled it up I thought the gas station was ripping me off. I ending up at near $80.00 to fill it up on 87 octane.
I believe the Princess can help you out on the second one. After a hard night of partying she's probably peeing liquid rocket fuel, no need to modify the engine.
Sorry P, I couldn't resist......Jaylin made me do it.
