So we had the Car Show down here sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank. This is the largest show we get and has the major manufacturers. So here are my thoughts after seeing the cars.
Outside the convention area;
350Z full Nismo kit & LMGT4's. Despite this being a virtual duplicate of the silver Z's you see for Nismo, it's a sleeper. You have to be about 3 feet from the car to notice the intercooler hiding.
Z06 with Roots type supercharger. 405hp stock, maybe an easy 550+hp with the supercharger? He's got probably 40%-50% increase in power with larger wheels and stock brakes (really should do something about those brakes).
Inside the display area:
Honda S2000 - too many punk kids, never got to sit in the car.
Honda Accord V6 Coupe - Overall looks good. Leather is the worst in the show. They went for the pleated look (?), but the leather was in poor condition and didn't even adhere to the foam......it's crap.
Honda Civic Si - weird shifter position, other than that pretty normal.
Toyota - I kept walking, until I ran into the Scion section. Wow everyone here is 1/2 my age and all act like punks. Seems like Toyota has nailed this niche.
Mercedes - Guys won't get out of the SL, the bastards! No S series cars, what's up with that?
Infiniti - Finally got to see the new M45. Man they really jacked the sticker price up.
Mazda - Man the IS350 really looks like the 6's styling cues. Didn't get in the RX-8. Looks very confining from me just sticking my head in the door, not for me.
Dodge - No Viper, no SRT-4, nothing to see.
Nissan - Just looked at the Z. The information posted for the car had numerous errors. Who the hell is not checking this stuff?
Subaru - Their display was impressive. Nice stuff (WRX and STi's).
BMW - No M3 coupe or rag top. Nothing of interest.
VW - New Jetta is intersting, looks pretty good, huge trunk. Trunk space is due to large overhang past the rear axle, makes the car look a little odd from the side.
Audi - A lot of A4's, but no S4's. Very disappointed.
Exotics - Maserati, sorry but they don't look good at all IMHO (the only one of the exotics that aren't roped off.......because no one with taste is interested). Lambo Murcielago, drool. Ferrari 612, man Ferrari really screwed this up, took the 575 and just bastardized it.
Mini - Not interested.
Lotus - Elise open and hardtops. Too many people drawn into the area by the exotics, too many people period. Couldn't get into the cockpit. I am still amazed how low this car rides.
Ford - Keep on a-walkin'. WHOAAAAHHHHHH!!! Shelby Cobra Coupe concept. It looks really cool (for a Ford). Tires are absolutely monstrous. Stood staring at it for about 10 minutes. Couldn't get close enough to look in (it's on a raised and spinning turntable).
Porsche - Cayanne is cool, so much power in an SUV

. Boxster S felt really good, excellent control layout, all very good. oooo......911 Carrera rag top next, extremely disappointed. Seats felt bad, steering wheel location feels wrong as well as the size, maybe it's just that I was sitting in a rag top. Hee hee hee, 911 GT3!!!!!! Feel is incredible, seats are awesome, control layout is good, and visibility is fantastic for this type of car (although the non-assisted clutch is heavier than a mother-f'er).
Chevy - Cobalt was non-accessible and the salesman didn't know any information on the car. Real good job of selling it...... C6 looks awesome from the outside, too chicken to sit in it since I might have to buy it if I did.
Realistically aside from the Porsche and the C6, there's nothing there that made me turn my head like the G.
