Default Rock Climbing

Any one here rock climb?

I was on my way back the other day from Sedona and was taking a back street off the highway and saw this building in an industrail park. I decided what the hell, I'm not doing anything so I swung in. As it turns out it is an indoor rock climbing gym. 25 to 30 foot climbing wall plus a bouldering area (8 to 10 foot high walls). Seemed like a lot of fun. Good way to meet people. As I started to dig into this there is actually like four gyms around here with a fifth one under construction which will be the biggest, 40 foot walls.

In two months planning on taking a class here at the local college. Never know they even offered it as a class.

Just want to know if there is anyone here that has tried this or is interested in it.

I've only done indoor climbing but it's super fun and great exercise. I haven't gone in a while because it's kind of expensive and hard to find people to go with that are trained to belay. It would be cool to get back into it but I need to find a climbing partner first.

Cost here don't seem to be all that bad, granted it is more than I'm paying for my actual gym membership, Bally's - $8 per month vs. Rock Gym $40 per month. They also had day passes usually around $10 for the day. So probably cheaper if you did the month thing. Actually the 6 month or the 1 year was even better ($210/$395).

Yeah here they will teach you how to belay. Only problem here is finding someone to go with too. Until I find a partner, I'll have to stay off the large walls and only allowed to do bouldering. That is why I was thinking of taking a class. Second option is to maybe put my name up on their board to try and find a partner.

Too bad we didn't live closer.
