When can I actually "Punch It"?

I know the owner's manual says that break-in period should between 1,250 and 1,500 miles, but does this mean that you can go from light throttle to moderate throttle, and then gradually start pulling higher RPMs, Or that you can go from light throttle to "punch it"? []

After 1,500 miles I don't see any thing wrong for some spirited driving. Just make sure you change your oil every 3,000 miles. I sold a Oldsmobile that ran great, would still smoke the tires and had 250,000 miles on the original motor. Just kept the oil changed every 3K.
