actually....the sedan is 100 lbs lighter than the coupe...so techically the sedan should have beaten your coupe....im sure an auto G35 sedan can beat your auto coupe...race again and find out..(make sure your friend knows how to race his car) PE@CE

It really does come down to the driver. The sedan and coupe are very well-matched. You know, because they're the same car.

You know what I drive. Pictures.

I don't understand where the coupe gets an extra 100lbs.

Someone once explained it was from the extra-large size of the coupe driver's heads! [bigeyes]

too bad I don't agree with you. It just doesn't make any sense that the 4 doors family car will beat it's coupe version.

i doubt 100 lbs is equal to 20 horsepower. if the sedan was a 6mt and the coupe a 5at and the sedan driver was real good i bet the sedan could have a shot...but i really doubt both auto that the sedan would win. the hundred pounds could come from a number of things...the exhaust probably weighs a good amount more...and the coupe is wider so that adds a little weight. also some suspension components im sure.

why dont you guys just race again...the sedan is faster...look at the times posted on an AUTO G35 coupe...i have nothing againt the coupe...actaully i like it better...but since were talking about a specific topic between the two, there is no need to hate that the sedan is fasterr (which is the truth)...hehe...

I feel fairly confident that I could beat any stock sedan in my coupe. I think it is more of a driver's race. They are the same car after all.

From what I get from reading many threads, the engines seem to produce almost the same power in both the sedan and the coupe. Just a marketing ploy to sell cars.

Coupe = 3422lbs (curb weight) and 280hp... thus 12.221 hp/lb

Sedan = 3369lbs (curb weight) and 260hp... thus 12.957 lb/hp

As you can see, the coupe has almost half a pound less per hp to lug than the sedan. Because the engine is roughly the same (exhaust and intake are main differences) we must assume the powerbands are similar enough. Additionally, being the same platform, assuming both are in the same state of tune, with the same tires and both drivers being equal...

I think the coupe has it.

All figures are from edmunds.com specs page for a 2004 model year.

Extra fender width, bigger wheels, bigger brakes, larger tires. All that adds up. The Sedan is a hair quicker than the Coupe but I would both say they are even under normal conditions.
