so one night me and my homeboy are coming back from going out in Downtown orlando. originally we were going to take 408 toll road back home but for some reason decided against that and took 50/Colonial Dr.
50 is a damn near str8 road running east and west through orlando.
so anyways. its late night-like around 3am. the weird thing is that there was really no traffic out this night. which its never like this. so we're just coasting talking about bitches and shit and deciding if we wanted to stop by taco bell.
so in the mist of convo we both notice these blue lights coming up pretty fast out of now where. we knew that it wasnt an expensive car b/c you could tell they were xenon lightbulbs put into a car without HID headlights.
so my boy drops the porsche into 5th is just hit the gas alittle which we expected would keep distance between us and this car. but the car was still coming on us fast. so my boy flooors his 911. and we see we are doing around 110 and the car is still coming.
so we slow down to stop at a stop light and the car pulls up. its a 1997 240sx with the KA24DE Turboed. The ccar im still in love with. espeically being tha the owner decided to keep and turbo the KA instead of doing an SR swap.
with KA-T's being str8 torque monsters. i told my friend that the 240 would give us alittle fun b/c of the KA-T and the car was moving like it had atleast 350hp. it would be a fun kill.
so my boy rev's his 911 to lets the 240 driver know we want to run. the 240sx kindly accepted. YES YES YES is all i thought. as i threw on my seat belt.
So i ask the guy to roll down his window to let him know that once the light turns green we will give three beeps for the launch.
Light turns green and i beep the horn three times so my boy my boy can focus on mashing out. light turns green. i give three stead beeps and we are off
the guy in the 240 hooks better than we do-who would have thought. and gets about a 1/4 car jump on us. by 55-60 he's edging us alittle and as we get up to about 80mph the 240 has pulled up to a car length. so i look at the odometer again and we are now doing about 110. and still havent caught this guy.
120, 130, 135, it wasnt until we started really getting into the top end of the porsche that we started to catch his guy. by 160 we had him by alittle less than half a car. and then we both started slowing down. and comming up to a light.
as we are slowing down to the light coming up im rolling down the window while he's in utter shock at how fast the 240 was and im remembering why this car still has to be apart of my arsenal.
anyways the guy rolls down his window and we are all laughing and shit. he said to us. "damn man that car is fast" and we're like "No your're shit is fast, this car is supposed to be fast it cost 120k" so i ask the guy did he know how fast we were going. and he was like "NO" while laughing "my speedometer is broke" and i was like "bro, we were doing 160 by the end" and we was like "yeah a figured something like that" haha
so i asked him what was his car putting to the ground. and he said he didnt know b/c he hadnt had it dyno'ed since he worked on it. but he figured between 390 and 400hp fun race. love 240sx KA-T's
damn....sounds like a fun night.... I'd have to agree with you on keeping the stock block and turboing... screw the sr20 swap.... its a lesser motor in my book.... I'll keep the larger ka and turbo that... I have a few buddies with 240's.... One guy has a sr swap( which is getting built this winter) another buddy has 2...a sr20 and a very clean ka24... and another has a non turbo(for now) ka convertible. He is going to break in the the motor and hopefully turbo it soon. These cars are nice and light and also have great chasis. Def a fun tuner car.

yeah i have driven a KA-T a couple times. its nice. the SR i smoother but you can mos def feel the power and torque difference in the KA-T. its good people caught on.
speaking of that i saw a youtube video with a japanese guy that had a KA24 imported to Japan and Turboed into it. and he's talking shit to everyone in Japan that he has the KA from america swapped into is silvia and will burn any silvia in japan.
Im trying to find it again to show my brother.
but my cousins friend that owns a shop in Daytona has a 240sx with a SR swap, another 240sx with the KA-T and swapped a RB26 into a S14 chassis. for a client
but he said that the feel of the KA-T is much closer to the feel of the RB than the SR. i havent driven a skyline or 240 with RB swap but would love to feel the RB
but japan mos def gave us a great motor in the 240sx
good reading!!!! i once had a 95 240 with the ka, never got around to boosting it thou, had to let it go, i had a 01 gt-s sitting in my driveway that need to get moved into my backyard( where the 240 was)
There is a swapped rb26 into an s14 chasis by me also. I'm not sure what ever happened to it.... my friend was selling it not too long ago and I don't know if it ever sold. It had something like 700 hp at the wheels.....It was crazy.... I guess you could easily light em up driving on the highway.... One of those cars that is just crazy fast.

Hwy 50 isn't a good place to be street racing. Too many driveways and side roads, especially at an indicated 160 mph.
yeah i know. after doing it we then thought about everything that could have happened and were glad we didnt get into an accident. even luckily that there were no cops around b/c we mos def would have landed in jail.
but that night it was suprisingly dead which i have never seen it like that before. which is still no justification
160mph is nuts.....I'm also jealous your friend has a 911 Turbo
haha well now he has that 996 911 a new 997 911 and a gallarado. oh and i forgot. a Range rover only for the purpose of putting his wake boat in and taking it out of the lake.
good reading, but this seems borderline stupid (no offense to you and your friend)... 160 on any public way is just too fast man.
no offense taken it was extremely stupid. i definately counted my blassing that we didnt end up in a fire ball and a call was being made to my parents. after we got to the house and realize what just took place but most importantly where

i read it and i was like... that's awesome! then i got those images from the 'Aftermath of a car accident' video in my head...
glad you two are OK and had a good time though.

yeah thats ex"zack"tly how it was for me. once we got back to his house. everything set in. and my heart start racing out of the fear of what could have happen
How much hp does that 240 have stock, no turbo. Had no idea you could get a 240 anywhere near a 911 turbo. Fastest I've ever gone in a car ('07 G sport sedan)was 140 and I was droppin a deuce the whole time. 160, that's nuts on public roads! Good times though, good times.

150hp. but what people didnt realize was that the KA was simliar to a SR. they assumed b/c it didnt rev as High as a SR that i must have been a truck motor.
but someone decided to see how the motor would fair under boost. the motor can handle more power than a SR b/c its iron. and the stock block can handle between 450-500hp.
but once the motor was opened up they saw that it was just missing a few things but realized the motor was pretty much a Turbo motor without the turbo but Japan didnt add one b/c dumb americans prefering low end torque and power vs FI.
and with the 240sx having more displacement made it even better. the 240sx clubs in texas. have plenty of 240sx's running between 650 and up to 800hp.
the KA24DE's are nasty
so while alot of people have caught on. alot still dont have a clue and are wasting time and money getting a SR once swap is only going to have 200hp. while you can take the same amount of money put it into the KA and be putting down around 300-360hp depending on the tune. with the SR you are playing catch up with the KA
lik ei said people in japan are now trying to get their hands on KA's to get imported to Japan to swap into their Silvias
check this posting to give you an idea of why you should stick with the KA instead of going with the SR
"I ran a s14 sr once. I thought it was a cool motor untill I realized that I spent way too much money on it. I spent $3000 on a front clip and still needed the wiring done and that was another $250. $750 for a gt28r aka s15 turbo, megan racing manifold $100, HKS actuator $100, blitz 550cc injectors $400, Q45 maf $100, ACT clutch $350, apex afc $300, dyno time $150, and I got 311whp out of it which I thought was pretty good. Then came the problems. SR started missfiring and I found out it was the coilpacks but I didn't want to waste my money on a used set because it might be deffective. So I got a splitfire system that cost $450 and then my rocker arms broke. Trying to find those things are a trick but I did find them and paid $30 on 2 arms. Then I spent another $60 on greddy rocker arm stoppers. So I spent $5500 for all that and I installed all the parts my self. If you went to a shop and payed them to do it you would be spending about $8000 or more on parts and labor.
So I took that piece of crap motor out and sold it for $4000 and used the money for a KA project. This is what I got out of it. Fully built KA, crower rods, cp piston .020 overbore, revhard manifold, t3/t61 turbo, msd 72 lbs injectors, tial 38mm wastegate, arp head and main studs, cometic head gasket, complete head job, performance toda oil pump and fuel pressure regulator, Jim wolf ecu programed for 72 lbs injectors, and Z32 maf rev is set to 7000 rpm and some other stuff. I got 487whp and 472 torqe. With the sr I ran 12.5 on the 1/4 mile with drag radials and with the ka I ran a 11.2 with a slipping 4 puck ACT clutch. I spent just under $5000 on the KA turbo setup. Thats my logic. If you want more information about the KA TURBO MOTOR go
ka-t.org and you will find a better motor for a better price. Don't waste your money on an SR when you already have a great motor for less money."
