A good friend of mine just picked up an S4 and i went over to his place to check it out. Awesome looking car. So he asks me if i want to take a couple of runs. We go out to some old country roads out in the middle of no where. I really didnt know what to expect but i was out there just for the fun of it. We line up, he honks his horn 3 times and he takes off... i kinda forgot for a bit that after the 3rd honk you are actually supposed to get on the gas(OOOps). Hes already about 2 car lengths ahead of me by the time i get on it (AWD kicks ass off the line ). But to my suprise i started catching him. By the time i hit 100 i caught and passed him and continued to pull on him. The 2nd race was much closer off the line since i remembered to hit the gas after the 3rd honk (Yea for me!!). By the time i hit 3rd i was already by him. The results really suprised me even though i know his car is heavier. His car has some type of performance chip that allows him to run 15 psi and a transmission chip. This was the 1st time that i have raced someone since i put on the spacer and the hiflow cats so they obviusly helped.
what exactly does his car have done to it? stock, the 02 and older S4's are not extremely quick but they do have tons more potential than the current model. (FI v6 vs. v8 )

^^^ TT V6 with a couple of performance chips. Im not exactly sure what they do but i think one of them allows him to run higher boost.
if it's just chipped, u might have an edge, if he has upgraded turbos, he would smoke u. actually i would think even just chipped he would be quicker. what do you mean by a couple of chips??

Thats what my buddy said that he has two after market chips for the car... one for the higher boost and one for the tranny. I guess its supposed to make the shifting quicker.

Autos are slow. I got TORCHED by a manual. Guy was doing well over 100 in 45mph zone. Stopped at a redlight and asked if he had a radar detector, he goes 'fuck no' and blew thru the light and took off again. LOL!
i raced a 03 s4 and damn those cars are fast. we went from a 40 roll, it took off on me, but i caught up with him when i hit 70. btw. do those things come boosted stock?
if the 03 you raced was boosted... that'd be crazy. i've never seen that before. it would be a very tight squeeze to fit anything else under the hood though, the engine is MASSIVE in such a small sedan.

I used to have an Allroad which had the same engine, and I presume transmission, that your friend's S4 had. With a $400 chip you can gain almost 60 HP, but the TTv6 only make 240 to start with. Not to mention that its only a 2.7L v6 and the transmission (at least in the Allroad) was probably THE worst automatic I had EVER driven. Slowest shifting in the world followed by a kick in the back of the head, then turbo lag, then another kick when you got on the boost. I am honestly not surprised that your G beat him. I raced My buddy to 60 in my allroad a few years back, he was driving his FX, and he pulled on me about 1/2 a car length by 60. Not that that is a very similar comparison but hey...
