I was on my way back from San Antonio this morning when this XJ6 and a newer Montero sped by me going about 90 or so. I got behind them since my Escort was going out (that's another story) using them as a shield. We just drove along for 20 miles or so until we came to a clearing. I was bored, so I decided to open it up (the throttle that is). I watched them disappear very quickly in my rear view mirror as I doubled the 70mph speed limit and kept it there until I saw other vehicles around and slowed it back down to 80.
About 20 minutes later, I see that the two cars approaching quickly and I decide to play it cool and pretend I don't see them. Just as the Jag gets to my rear bumper, I punch it and wave to the driver as once again I leave it in the dust and go through the same routine as above. This time I know she was trying to race since she had left her friend in the Montero behind by a good margin.
The next time they catch up to me, I decide that the fun has been had, so I let them pass and drift back behind them. This is were it got interesting. We're in line, first the Jag, then the Montero, then my G. We're just cruising between 90 and 100, when I start to get some water on my windshield. Well, I only thought it was water. As we continued for a few miles, I notice the Jag was beginning to smoke. I would have thought her friend would let her know since she was behind her, but they kept on as her car spewed more and more black smoke. At this point, I wanted to go pull up next to her and let her know, that she should pull over, but we were stuck in some traffic, so I couldn't pass. Needless to say, we continued on for a few miles, until she pulled over in a big thick cloud of black smoke. I felt bad, but there was nothing I could do at that point. Her engine I'm sure was fried. Her friend was right behind her so I decided not to stop. They weren't very good looking anyway. [
