I was driving down i-192 in Michigan going about 80 and was coming up on a porsche boxter, I noticed it was a 20-something on a joy ride, because he was cruising in the right lane going about 65ish.
he was coming up on someone going slower just as I was about to his bumper, but I was in the left lane. He yanked over to the right lane, so I hit my breaks, he then pasted the other car and slipped back into the right lane. I accelerated back towards 80 and as I was passing him 1/4 length ahead of him, he hit the gas and I punched mine, I think I was in 5th still. I started to pull ahead more and then we came up on more traffic real fast at least he did in the right lane. I slowed down and then noticed he took the exit.
What can a 6MT stock coupe do compared to a porsche boxter in a real race with more open road?
A plain Boxster is slower than a 6MT G35. Without the S, the Boxster is an underpowered car. Handles really well, but when I was tossing one around Laguna Seca, it took all my effort to keep up with the Dodge SRT-4 in front of me(Turbo Neon). Of course the SRT-4 can beat the Boxster S in a drag race, so it was no big surprise that he could pull away from me under WOT.
They've bumped the power up a little bit for the recent models, but non-S is still 240hp, 199ft-lbs.
So in a drag race on an open road, your 6MT (Drivers and launches being equal) should beat him every time. Take the two cars to a track, however, and the Boxster's superior handling should give him an advantage in and out of the turns.
the boxster is slower in almost every aspect but in handeling:
the 2006 boxster:
240 hp (SAE) @ 6,400 rpm
0-60 mph: 5.9 sec.
Top Track Speed: 159 mph
the 2006 boxster S:
280 hp (SAE) @ 6,200 rpm
0-60 mph: 5.2 sec.
Top Track Speed: 167 mph
So basically unless it has an S badge, it won't be much trouble. Otherwise is similar in performance as the 330ci w/performance package. Personally evertime I've raced the poor man's porsche, I won...but i think its mostly a drivers race.

You have tog to install Motordyne MREV+ upgrade with tanabe y-pipe. Dont race above 90F. At 70F and below '05 G35 6MT coupe flies..... Boxter..? Objects in mirror might be closer than they appear, but this is doubtful as they tend to shrink quite rapidly according to my experience.....
Conservative estimate 315 hp and 280ft lbs tq. Grounding kit keeps electronics in harmony. Dont f around without protection (Valentine 1 / Blinder M-20) prevent annoying infections.
All I know is that before my G passed away (), I took out a Boxer S. I didn't beat him by much but I was 1/2 - 3/4 of a car ahead of him before he let up.
Easy... the standard engine for the 05/06 is 240HP, 199 lb-ft tq. The S is 280 HP and only 236 lb-ft tq (Torque is power, HP is the rate at which power is applied)
The older Boxsters only have 200 HP engines in them.
The '04 base engine was only 238HP and 192 lb-ft of tq - it couldn't get away from 1997 V6 Camry on a freeway (I know, I had a 97 Camry and ran one down).
The new V6 Camry is 268 HP, with a 6-speed auto - it will kill most Boxster's.
man a 3.5 Nissan altima can take the boxter.. 0-60 in under 6 secs_ not fully sure but ive read it..
Either way, it would be a pretty fun race in a G.
