Hey guys, i have a 2005 g35c w/ alot of mods but the only performance mods I have are Injen CAI and i am picking up an exhaust and headers this week( not sure which ones yet). Anyway, my friend has a 2003 Subaru WRX with APS turbo back exhaust, Cobb Tuning Accesport Stage 2, HKS SSQ BOV, Blitz Boost controller, Turbo timer, slotted rotors, Sway bars, Injen CAI, Chip, and is producing HP in the nieghborhood of 330. I figure that after my exhaust and headers I should be close to him HP wise, but those things are so damn light, not to mention AWD. Is there any chance i have of keeping up wit him after my mods get installed????
is his car the STI, or the regular WRX impreza? depends on how good of a driver he is. remember that AWD cars are always the most difficult to launch. if he cant launch it properly, then you will gain the advantage off the hole; and then it would be a matter of keeping the lead. yes, those cars are damn light... and yes, the AWD should work to his advantage...
i think you would be pretty close... now, if you were to put all your horses on the ground with a proper suspension... watchout WRX
He has the impreza wrx. I am definitely considering a suspension upgrade. The only thing that hurts me is that he is upgrading to the Sti tranny and he is getting a front mount pretty soon...! When he turns his boost controller up, that baby pulls awfully hardd!!! I hope you are right tho . I have run wit him many times and havent even come close but I feel that my upgrades should do some justice!

well i really dont know much about the subaru tranny's, but im guessing the sti's tranny is a closer ratio. those are dangerous. when you say "havent even come close", what does that translate to? give an estimate. the suspension upgrade would def. be a huge boost, my friend. i guarantee you will feel more power gain with a stiff suspension, in contrast to the mods you have already have. but dont worry, the mods will improve the outcome. besides, you bought the G for the combo of looks, speed, and elegance. other than speed, what does the wrx have?
NIce, I like my odds haha. Everytime i have raced him, it has never been from a stop, but i have been probly about 3-4 cars behind him once we hit about 60+. He is afraid to go on the highway wit me cuz he knows that is where all of our power can come in handy and our sixth gear, but what kind of suspension do you recommend and how much does it run for?....
If you are not even coming close now, headers, intake and exhaust aren't gonna make that much of a difference to make it closer. Smoke and I seem to be the biggest proponents for suspension upgrades. Being able to get that power to the ground is more important to the G than most other cars. The gains you get from intake, exhaust and headers are minimal on the VQ. It is very hard to extract much more hp out of this engine short of going FI.
yea i know wat you mean. I only have about $2500 to spend, and i dont think that is enough for any turbo or supercharger ive seen. What would any of u guys buy wit $2500 to get the most power?
i havent gotten a suspension upgrade yet (unfortunately), so i cant really tell you from experience which ones are the best. i think hexx might be more familiar with a specific brand that could work, or gzire. i wouldnt want to lead you in the wrong direction.

that much money is the perfect amount for an optimal suspension...
Get the Z tube and a Popcharger (JWT, Stillen). Then use the rest on suspension (sways, coilovers). The stock G tube is very restrictive and this is the one bolt on that I think is definitely worth upgrading. Afterthat I would concentrate on suspension.
I already got an Injen CAI, so wouldnt a ztube and popcharger be pointless?.........
yeah the z tube would be pointless at this point. i thought you already had the exhaust and headers. the headers and exhaust are pretty expensive. i dont know how much a real good suspension could go for. i've heard some of the best for the G go near 2.5k, but perhaps you could find something on ebay and pull it all off. seriously, if i had to pick, the suspension is much more bang for the buck than the exhaust work. remember that our engines are VERY compressed, which leaves very little room for upgrading HP. you might as well just put the HP you already have, to use.
